Replace the bracketed text below with your responses. Support your responses with specic details and
examples from your adversements. You do not need to conduct outside research, but if you use
sources, cite them using APA style.
Describe the underlying meanings or socially signicant messages each of your adversements
communicates.
Google: Body Type
o The underlying meaning or socially signicant message of this adversement is that
there is beauty in all bodies regardless of shape and size, that basically every body type
is perfectly imperfect. Regardless of shape, color, or size, we all must accept ourselves
as we are and come to love ourselves for it.
o Promote Iceland: Let It Out!
o The underlying meaning or socially signicant message of this adversement is that
everyone in the world, regardless of gender, age, and race experience everyday life
stresses and even some traumac ones. And at some point, we must take a step back
and take a break from it all.
o Pantene: #SeeBeautyNotGender
o The underlying meaning or socially signicant message of this adversement is that
individuals should not be judged on basis of gender and/or appearance and should
rather be accepted for who they are on the inside (promoon of inner beauty
idencaon). Everyone is human and should be accepted for who they are on the
inside and not judged on appearance.
o Canon: Truthmark
o The underlying meaning or socially signicant message of this adversement is that in
contrast ulizing pictures that are taken out of context to impose personal opinions on
others, we should instead be sharing the real narrave behind images. This
adversement also is about spreading the message of how images seen on social media
or news are not always what they appear to be.

Write a research queson based on a social science perspecve and related to at least one of your
adversements.
Now that we have been informed on the possibility of images posted to media outlets being
used to sway opinions without the true narrave behind them being presented, how has the
media in-uenced the acceptance and love for all individuals as human beings regardless of
gender, age, and race?
Describe how you used a social science perspecve to create your research queson.
A social science perspecve looks at how individuals and society interact as well as how
civilizaons perform and grow. As I was watching the adversements that I chose, I noced that
that all of them in some way or another were basically promong the truth that all individuals
regardless of gender, age, and race should be accepted for who they are. Physical appearance
should not be what we judge individuals on as we should understand that every human is
di0erent, and we all learn as we experience life. With the tremendous in-uences that media
outlets seem to have on our percepons and depicons of di0erent groups or cultures of
1
people, I wanted to know just how much and in what ways the media has been able to in-uence
the percepon of society in relaon to accepng all individuals as the human beings they are
regardless of gender, age, and race.
