Experience With Theology Essay Assignment
What comes to my mind when I hear the word Theology. Well, I do have to say
that I am more than perplexed. I have pondered and pondered about this for many
days now and I am not sure where to begin. I have always thought of Theology as
being the study of the bible and of God or as some may say our Lord. This still
hold true in some aspect but as I have been reading our chapters, I have found that
there is much more to Theology than what I had been putting into the though of
what it is. Yes, in some ways it is the study of the bible, and of God, but in more
realistic ways I have come to learn that it is the study of Gods Word. So yes, the
study of the bible is part of Theology, but we need to take it much farther than just
the Bible and God to really get into the depth of Theology. I need to sit down and
look at my inner being and truly look at what and how I believe before I can come
up with a direct answer for myself as to what I feel Theology is to me.
What experience have I had with Theology, well I thought that this would be an
easy question to answer but in fact it is not. I have studied Gods word at times and
in the last four years it has been more than in has eve been. As children we were
baptized into the Methodist Church but the only time that we were able to attend
was when we were with our grandma. She very much believed in God and the
bible, and I feel that I have followed in her footsteps, but as I got older, I followed
more of the Catholic beliefs until the last four plus years. I know follow more of a
Christian Faith and am just getting started in studying the Bible and Gods word.
This is the first class that I have ever take on Theology, but with that said I do not
feel that it will be my last. I have a lot to learn and there is no better time than the

present. Seeing as how I do not have much experience with Theology or the Bible,
I feel that this is the right time for myself and for my family.
What I hope to take away from this class is knowledge. I want to know what
Theology is, how Theology came about, and where I can go from here with this
class. I want to know more about Go and the Bible. I want to be able to get deeper
into my faith so that I can bring my six children some knowledge as well. We are a
mixed family with bio-children, stepchildren, forever foster children, and one soon
to be adopted child. I feel that having the knowledge of God, our faith, and being
able to share this not only with-in our family but with other that are in the same
situation as our is an important gift that I would like to share. I also want to follow
in the footsteps of my grandmother who was a woman of God. She followed Gods
word in her everyday life and continued this for 92 years. It is very important that
I show my children that I am a Christian woman that follows the word of God, and
this is the type of life that I would like them to follow with as well. Granted
getting a passing grade in this class would be great but the most import thing for
me to take from this class is to be able to follow the Word of God.
