2. How are today’s evolving media content and mobility options increasing or
decreasing the quality and value of the media we have available to us as consumers?
I think having this is convenient and efficient. It gives people the opportunity to stay at
home rather than needing to go out to get things. Technology is evolving more and more
everyday and I’m impressed with how far we’ve come. However, I also believe that it is a
danger because we are relying on big tech and billion dollar companies, which gives some if not
most of our freedom away. In a recent study, what drives consumers to use their electronic
devices rather than getting in the car and going to run errands was analyzed. It states that the,
“findings show that mobile shopping is influenced by variables that reflect the evolution of
technological innovations and the consequent improvement of the functionality and convenience
of mobile devices (previous digital experience and ubiquity)” (Greenwich, 2022). It’s as simple
as that. Consumers are sucked into the latest technological creations. Whatever they can access
from their fingertips is appealing to them.
Today's evolving media content and mobility options are increasing the quality and value
of the media by creating and introducing new devices every year, along with updating
applications constantly to switch it up so that no one gets bored. For example, “most of the
mobile market expansion can be attributed to advances in telecommunication technology, such as

ceding some control over to a few large media companies?

3. The business model of social media platforms is to keep people engaged. Do you
ever feel as if you have become addicted to social media? Why or why not? Either way -
do you make efforts to moderate your social media consumption during mealtime, at
work, or when out with friends or family? Explain your thoughts.
the launch of 5G, which have led to an unprecedented level of connectivity, changing the way in
which individuals interact, communicate, and shop” (2022). People are always looking for the
next big thing. This also has to do with computers, gps/bluetooth in cars, apple watches, etc.
There are times where I feel myself getting wrapped up in social media when I have
nothing else to do. I find myself spending hours on it without even realizing it. In the past year,
I’ve done better at monitoring how much time I spend on social media. I remind myself to spend
less time on my phone and more time with God and the people that I love and care about. James
4:14 says, “yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist
that appears for a little time and then vanishes” (ESV, 2016). In this country, people spend most
of their time together on their phones, whether or not they’re looking at the same thing.
Technology and social media has become a worldwide addiction. It’s important to remain present
in this life, especially when you’re around other people. Our days are numbered and we should
spend them wisely. Technology and social media are materialistic things that are of this world.
As Christians, we are living in this world but are not of it.
