Measurable Annual Goals
Reading Goal 1: Based on Bryan’s reading level, test scores and his 6th grade reading text by
the next review he will have an understanding of multisyballic words and vowel
combinations. He will also be able to identify root words, prefixes and some suffixes with a
90% accuracy. Which will be also measured by teacher records on 4 or 5 consecutive
occasions.
VA SOL: 6.4 The student will read and learn the meanings of unfamiliar words and phrases
within authentic texts.
a) Identify word origins and derivations.
b) Use roots, cognates, affixes, synonyms, and antonyms to expand vocabulary.
c) Use context and sentence structure to determine meanings and differentiate among
multiple meanings of words.
d) Identify and analyze figurative language.
e) Use word-reference materials.
f) Extend general and specialized vocabulary through speaking, listening, reading, and
writing.
Reading Goal 2: Bryan experiences difficulties in reading texts independently. He also has a
hard time reading and comprehending the story elements and main ideas within a text. So by
the next IEP review Bryan will be able to identify the key ideas within the text and he also
will be able to provide textual support with at least 4 out of 5 correct identifications and with
a 80% accuracy.
VA SOL: 6.6 The student will read and demonstrate comprehension of a variety of nonfiction
texts.
g) Identify main idea.
h) Summarize supporting details.
i) Compare and contrast information about one topic, which may be contained in different
selections.

j) Identify the author’s organizational pattern.
k) Identify cause and effect relationships.
l) Use reading strategies to monitor comprehension throughout the reading process.
Math Goal 1: When doing mutli-step problems and problem solving. Bryan will use an audio
to accommodate his reading problems. But also give out a series of multiplication handouts to
help him answer the questions with at least 3 out of 5 problem solve correctly by the next IEP
review.
VA SOL: 6.5 Computation and Estimation The student will
b) solve single-step and multistep practical problems involving addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division of fractions and mixed numbers.
Math Goal 2: When doing 6th grade multi-step problems with decimals and whole numbers,
Bryan will use estimation to round off and help solve the problems, with at least 9 out of 10
problems correctly solved by the next IEP review.
VA SOL: 6.5 Computation and Estimation The student will
c) solve multistep practical problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and
division of decimals.

with his reading difficulties an audio
of the reading would probably be
more helpful so that he would not
missed the main ideas or the
important parts of the text that he
needs to learn. With the audio it will
also help if he is missing important
parts that he did not read in the text
as well.

Bryan will use a read aloud
accommodation but also a
multiplication chart to help him
answer the questions with at least 3
out of 5 problem solve correctly by
the next IEP.
Accomodation: Bryan should use a
multiplication chart to help him
learn hia multiplication. But also use
an audio recording to help him read
the problems since he has problem
reading and comprehending main
ideas and facts.

Math Goal 2: To help Bryan with
his math the use of manipulatives
would be the best option. It will
teach him how to count but also help
him find the answer and solve the
problem. Giving him handouts on
problem solving and multiplication
will help him learn but also correct
his mistakes as well.
Accommodation: A handout will be
helpful with multi-step problem
solving with multiplication. Using
examples of the same problems will
also be helpful for students like
Bryant. If they learn from their
mistakes then they will become
better mathmaticians.
