Education, along with many other types of entertainment such as literary, visual, and
performing arts, have a bold and lasting impact on the development of Western culture and
America. Some of the first Universities developed in Europe around the 1100’s. Around this
time, programs such as the bachelors and masters were created. When pursuing a field or
degree in college, one must go through on of these programs at their university in order to
achieve their goal. When the universities were first created, they did not have the large
buildings and campuses like many do today. They were being held in people’s homes. Over time
these universities developed into the great learning centers that many people of all ages have
the opportunity to attend today.
Since the start of these universities, Education and the forms of entertainment have
had a strong impact on the developing minds of America. With these forms of entertainment,
many great developments such as the furthering of technology and knowledge have been able
to happen. Thanks to the education, many opportunities have become available as well as the
equipping of skills and knowledge that people may need.
Art influences society with forms of creativity and a way to share emotions and God-
given talent. Sculptures, Paintings, literature, and music allows people from different cultures,
religions, and backgrounds to communicate through their art. For many, their art has impacted
society. Over time the university has provided expanded views in Western culture with the
addition of science and liberal arts including theology and philosophy. Now many have the
opportunity to learn things that are not a part of their culture, which only benefits their
knowledge. English has become the most prominent language if not the only language that is
used in our universities today
Overall, the impact that education and entertainment has had on Western culture and
America only impacts it for the good. Thanks to these two factors universities are thriving now
more than ever and are providing developing minds with the knowledge that they need.
