This article discusses obstacles in the nursing profession that have a negative impact on
job satisfaction, patient quality of care and safety. The obstacles noted were efficiency
requirement, nursing shortage, and an aging population with complex illness. The author
recommends new ways of nursing leadership and evidence based human resources that
will improve nursing environments. The author mentioned a study in Europe that showed
more than 50% of absence days were work related stress as a result limited resources.
Nurses that are not satisfied with their job lead to increased mortality and adverse events
and high turnover rates which all can increase organizational costs. The author
recommends a nurse leader that promotes health in both patients and nursing staff by
decreasing the gaps in health care delivery that are a result of inadequate resources. This
article will for focus in the introduction piece of the final resource management paper by
regarding consideration for budgeting, safety, and quality care.
