BIBLICAL VIEW of SEXUALITY
In the book THE GIFT of SEX written by Penner & Penner the authors make assertations
on the following elements. One that sexuality is a gift from God in reference to gender. It is
noted in the bible 1in the book of Genesis the story of creation male and female both are made in
the image of the father God, the Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. The next assertation Penner
makes is the high regards that is placed on marriage2, the symbolism of the relationship between
humanity, wife , husband, and God as it relates to life plus living as purposed by God. The third
assertation is that the lines of communication is broken between the husband, the wife, and the
communication with God. Penner future goes on to state that in today’s society we treat sex and
our sexuality as trinkets that do not have much value. However it is to be valued and only given
away (Penner, 2003) pg. 19. These are just a few of the assertations given by the authors of which
all have been backed up with biblical referenced notations.
The assertions made by Penner& Penner are profoundly noted and I am in agreement
with them for these reasons. The original plan that God has for humanity did not and will not
include sin of any kind. This can be seen in the book of Genesis chapters 1 and 2 which tells of
creation, our purpose , and gives the image that we are created in. The biblical reference to
gender is for the purpose of giving guidelines on the duties of each3 sexuality and for the
application of living under the intended nature of Gods plan. In relationship to how we are to
give ourselves to God and honor each other is the intended relationship from the beginning .It is

future more that I agree with these authors on the areas of their findings in relationships, our sex
and sexualities, but also the examples of the relationship design for a personal interactive
relationship with God. It has always been a closed relationship we are to have with God, and we
are not to place anything above him for he is a jealous God. Therefore we should be just as
jealous in the way love and treat our creator the father God. So, yes I completely agree with this
authors findings.
In explaining the purpose of sex and sexuality to a new believer in Christ. I would use
this book as my reference along with the bible to give them clarity plus understanding by
enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. Acknowledging the fact that all sexuality is a gift given from
God as the image we created, the proper use of these gifts, and the desire of God to be in
relationship with them as well. Biblical reference will be provide in the all aspects to the shame
of sex, sexuality, and the false implications given to both by society as well as the church.
