Because I Am Anointed
Luke 4:15-21
Luke 4:15-21
And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.
[16] So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was,
He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. [17] And He was
handed the book of the prophet Isaiah(61 chap.) And when He had opened the book, He
found the place where it was written:
[18] "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
[19] To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."
[20] Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the
eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. [21] And He began to say to
them, "Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."
When the Spirit of the Lord comes upon the life of a believer, he comes with a
purpose.
John 16:12-14
I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. [13] However,
when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not
speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you
things to come. [14] He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to
you.
The first purpose that the Spirit of the Lord comes for is to fill that empty, swept
and cleaned heart with the presence of God’s Spirit.
Matthew 12:43-45
"When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest,
and finds none. [44] Then he says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.' And
when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. [45] Then he goes and takes
with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there;
and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked
generation."
The indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit begins to lead us into the will of God that
desires us to reach out to lost souls to meet their need for a Savior. Thus we begin to
walk with the Lord and minister for him and that requires the infilling of the Holy
Spirit.
•
John 20:19-22 the disciples received the indwelling before the infilling
•
Luke 24:45 Luke give the purpose for the indwelling presence
•
John 1:12-13 the indwelling presence empowers us for sonship
Jesus Himself had to receive infilling of the Holy Spirit before He began His
ministry.
Matthew 3:11
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is
mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the
Holy Spirit and fire."
Matthew 3:13-17
Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. [14] And
John tried to prevent Him, saying, "I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to
me?" [15] But Jesus answered and said to him, "Permit it to be so now, for thus it is
fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed Him. [16] When He had been
baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were
opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon
Him. [17] And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in
whom I am well pleased."
Jesus received fullness of the Holy Spirit.
•
John 3:34-36
Once Jesus Christ was full of the Holy Spirit, then he was led by the Holy Spirit to
the work of the God.
Luke 4:1
Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by
the Spirit into the wilderness,
Acts 10:38
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth(his humanity) with the Holy Spirit and with
power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for
God was with Him.
Now! We must understand that there is a difference between the indwelling
presence of God and the infilling essence of God.

Acts 19:1-7
Jesus the Christ, instruct the disciples and go and wait for the promise.
"And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but wait in the city of
Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high." [Lk:24:49]
"But you shall receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you. Acts 1:8
Once you are fill then you are sealed with the Holy Spirit.
Ephes. 1:13-14
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation;
in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, [14]
who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession,
to the praise of His glory.
What is the purpose of my power?
