a sibling of three. He is the oldest sibling of a set of triplets. Kevin was the first born triplet and
his sister, Kate is the second oldest, and their third brother, died. Kevin’s parents took home
another baby that same day whose name is Randall. Randall is African American and was left at

triplets are known as the “Big Three”.
Kevin’s parents are Jack and Rebecca Pearson. Jack was a high functioning alcoholic and
suffered from alcohol addiction for most of his adulthood. Jack was a veteran of the Vietnam War
and he never spoke much about his time in Vietnam. When Kevin was 12 years old, his father
died from a heart attack due to smoke inhalation complications.
Rebecca, was a stay at home mother who also pursued a part time career as a singer.
Rebecca is currently 68-years-old, still alive and is currently married to Miguel, who was Jack’s
best friend before Jack died. Kevin has not taken to Miguel and does not see him as part of the
family.
Kevin grew up in Pennsylvania, lived in New York and California; however he currently
lives in Los Angeles, California near his sister Kate, her husband Toby, their newborn son Jack,
and his mother and stepfather, Rebecca and Miguel.
Kevin has been married once but divorced due to their distance and infidelity. Kevin
moved to California to pursue his acting career, while his wife Sophie stayed in New York.
CASE SUMMARY 3
While he was in California he cheated on his ex-wife, Sophie. After his divorce, Kevin remained
single, having casual sexual relations with several women.
Kevin is seeking help for his narcotics and alcohol addiction. He is also struggling in his
personal life when it comes to commitment and understanding what he wants in a relationship.
Kevin has been on a quest to find out more about his father’s past (in Vietnam) and what led to
his father’s addictions.
Presenting Problems
Kevin is currently struggling with alcohol addiction. Kevin has always struggled with
seeking attention for approval from others. He has dealt with this in his career, sexual
relationships, and family dynamics. Due to his need of approval, Kevin deals with anxiety and
depression on a daily basis. Kevin claims he becomes very anxious when it comes to serious
relationships and career opportunities. He is always seeking reassurance. When he doesn’t
receive the reassurance he desires he claims to become depressed.
Personal Relationship
In his personal relationships he expresses his desires to be “enough” for his significant
other. Although he is often told he is handsome and he knows he is successful, he still thinks he
is disappointing to his significant other; because of this fear, Kevin claims he never gets too close
to his sexual partners emotionally therefore he claims he is not capable of having an authentic
relationship. Kevin explains that drinking alcohol allows him to have fun and not think about the
responsibility of a spouse. He explains this is easier for him then having to open up about himself
and hear criticism from a spouse.
CASE SUMMARY 4
Occupational Life
Kevin does drink at work but not enough to become immobile. He is currently the main
character of a sitcom, yet he desire more from his work life. He does not feel appreciated and
