During our class on Feb 20 / 22, you learned how to use the 

SuperTracker 

website (

). 

USDA 

SuperTracker

can help you plan, analyze, and track your diet and physical activity.  These online activities 

will help you evaluate your diet quality and understand areas you need to improve your own health. 

NOTE – If you prefer using other mobile apps to track your nutrition quality, you can certainly use one of 

them instead!  Please contact Dr. Cha in advance! 

Online Activity # 6: Submit 

SuperTracker 

Report Files (10 points) – March 1 online assignment

(Note: To complete the online activity #6, I strongly encourage you to review

.)  You can find this tutorial PPT guide from the Online Activity folder (HB 265 D2L).  

1.

Visit 

www.supertracker.usda.gov

, and then click on “create your profile” tab.

2.

Go back to the home page and click on Food Tracker.  

3.

The Food Tracker website will show “today’s date”, when you click on it (make sure you chose what day.)

4.

Type the food / beverage, which you ate or drank in the search bar.

5.

After you enter all of your food data for 

two days

both quantities and kinds of all food

), view the results

of your nutritional information.

6.

Click on the My Reports tab.

You will be asked to download your output files from 1.) Food Groups & Calories, 2.) Nutrients Reports 

8.

Submit your two Report Files 1) Food Groups & Calories, 2) Nutrients Reports

to the Dropbox (titled 

online activity #6: Submitting SuperTracker Report Files.)

Question 1: 

Evaluate your own

“Food Groups and Calories” for two days 

in terms of 

Grains, Vegetables, 

Fruits, Dairy, and Proteins

.  It is important for you to discuss both 

quantities and 

kinds

of each food group, 

compared to your target (recommendations) by the USDA’s 

MyPlate

.  

Note to students:

It would be helpful for you to review the USDA MyPlate analysis ppt 

(Feb 20 / 22 ppt)

Question 2:

Evaluate your own 

“Nutrients”

from the two days in terms of protein, carbohydrate, total fat, 

saturated fat, sodium (from Minerals), calcium (from Minerals), added sugar, folate (from Vitamins), Vitamin B12 

(from Vitamins).  

Question 3:

While some of you have a healthy eating style / habit, everyone has room for improvement.  After 

evaluating your own food group and nutrient reports, please comment on the 

top three aspects / areas you need 

to improve on your current eating patterns, compared to the dietary recommendations.  

When responding to 

this question (top two or three areas to improve), please discuss your proposed plan for changing specific eating 

behaviors.
