Nursing theory
The interpersonal theory of Peplau Peplau's theory of Interpersonal Relations in Nursing
underpins this philosophy of directing and providing care when a person is in severe distress and
gradually shifting decision-making and self-care to the individual (Wheeler, 2014). The idea is
made up of three parts: person, environment, and health. The nurse is attempting to establish an
interpersonal connection to comprehend and affirm the patient's perspective. "The primary work
of nurses, according to Peplau's framework, is to grasp patients' meaning systems and assist them
in piecing together their illness experiences through these interactions, the evolving interpersonal
process, and nurses' use of empathy and presence to grasp patients' meaning systems and assist
them in piecing together their illness experiences" (Delaney, Shattell, & Johnson, 2017, p.635)
Nursing entails collaboration between two or more people working toward a common objective.
The goal is accomplished by following a pattern of steps. Both the nurse and the patient must
collaborate for both to mature and understand the process.
Counseling Theory
There are many beautiful ideas about psychotherapy, but I would choose cognitive-behavioral
theory (CBT) in my daily practice. This theory involves the client's views on how situations
influence their emotional, behavioral, and psychological perceptions. The client learns to analyze
their negative cognitions and change their thinking using this approach, which reduces their
distress (Beck Institute, 2016).
