I get my news from either the news channels or the radio. I have read and heard so
much fake news on social media it's ridiculous the things that are on social media.
It's also tricky because they can sometimes make some it seem real. This is where
our critical thinking skills come into play. We have to analyze the information , and
determine if the information is coming from a credible source. I am not too involved
in politics . My involvement does not go any further than listening to the speeches of
the different canditates for our elections , and putting in my vote. I put my critical
thinking skills in process with this by analyzing the conclusion and premise of the
arguments they put forth, and determine if I feel the premise are sound. I also make
sure to stay open minded when it comes to making my own conclusions. The biggest
fallacies that I have seen are on tv. It is usually always with sales. Everyone claims to
have the best product. My biggest pet peeve is advertisent from cell phone
companies. They are always advertising free phones. They are never really free ,
once they catch you attention and you actually look into the deal , you quickly learn
it is not really free. There is usually other fees associated around it, or you have to
buy a phone to get one free. This kind of advertisment can be so misleading.
The most interesting topic in this course for me is how to brake down an argument.
This will help us throughout our life to make better sense of an argument by
analyzing the conclusion and premise of the argument.
