Based on this week’s reading and activities, how would you define critical
thinking?Critical thinking is how one think and come up with his or her own
conclusion.
What are some characteristics of a critical thinker?I would say self-confidence when
it comes to reasoning, open minded when it comes to different type of views on
certain topics, having curiosity when we wonder about certain issues.
What do you see as common barriers to critical thinking is is trusting having lack of
knowledge, also when we ,misunderstand the truth and stop being closed minded,
and how might people overcome or avoid those barriers? I will have to say to over
come or to avoid barriers we should always avoid what you think people or trying to
say and we need to stop misunderstanding and listen before we think.
Reflect on the learning activities, concepts, ideas, and topics covered this week.
What is the most interesting activity or concept you learned this week? I would have
to say when it comes to critical thinking in everyday life which can be very
changeling.
Critical thinking may come in various forms, but it essentially means the same thing.
The ability to make a decision and how you make that decision despite your personal
views.
A few characteristics that make a critical thinker are the creative problem solving,
being open minded, and my favorite, being intellectually curious. And of course
having good communication and problem solving skills.
Even though this was not listed under a common barrier, I feel as if being self-
conscious and not having high self-esteem may get in the way of being able to think
critically. You will constantly question yourself, making it impossible to come up with
a good solution. Another characteristic that will hinder the ability to think critically is
being ignorant. Being oblivious to another persons point of view. Which kind of falls
into another barrier which is being narrow minded.
When it comes to what concepts might be confusing during this weeks reading I am
confused when discussing cognitive, and social dissonance. I understand being
around different view points depending on a certain crowd you are around. How
would that affect how a person feels if they are not swayed easy?
