Adaptive project management (APM) has gained popularity in recent years due to its
ability to adapt to changing project needs and deliver successful outcomes. The purpose of this
paper is to develop an APM framework that includes agile and iterative management techniques,
which can be applied to real-world projects. In this paper, we will share our adaptive project
management framework, identify special methods we intend to integrate into the framework, and
assess its effectiveness for refinement and reutilization. Our APM framework is designed to be
flexible and adaptable, with a focus on continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
It includes the following key components
Define the project vision and scope: This includes identifying project objectives,
stakeholders, and requirements.
Create a flexible project plan: This includes breaking down the project into smaller,
manageable pieces, prioritizing tasks, and creating a timeline.
Establish a collaborative team environment: This includes establishing communication
protocols, facilitating team meetings, and promoting open communication.
Implement agile and iterative management techniques: This includes using techniques
such as Scrum, Kanban, and Lean to manage project tasks and monitor progress.
Monitor and adjust project performance: This includes regular check-ins to assess
progress, identify roadblocks, and adjust the project plan as needed.
Special Methods Integration
In addition to the key components outlined above, we intend to integrate the following
special methods into our APM framework:
Design thinking approach will be used to help identify user needs, iterate on design
concepts, and ensure the project meets user requirements. We chose to integrate this method
because it helps ensure that the project delivers value to the end-user. Risk management
approach will be used to identify and mitigate potential risks throughout the project lifecycle. We
chose to integrate this method because it helps minimize the impact of potential risks on project
outcomes. Continuous improvement approach will be used to encourage ongoing learning and
improvement throughout the project. We chose to integrate this method because it helps ensure
that the project team remains focused on delivering the best possible outcome.
Assessment of Effectiveness:
To assess the effectiveness of our APM framework, we will track and monitor project
progress, identifying areas of success and improvement. We will also conduct regular
retrospectives to assess project performance and identify opportunities for refinement and
reutilization of the framework. By continuously monitoring and refining the framework, we
believe that it will be effective for a wide range of real-world projects.
Developing an APM framework that includes agile and iterative management techniques
is essential for delivering successful project outcomes. Our adaptive project management
framework is designed to be flexible and adaptable, with a focus on continuous improvement
throughout the project lifecycle. By integrating special methods such as design thinking, risk
management, and continuous improvement, we believe that our framework will be effective for a
wide range of real-world projects.
