CHE 110 Module Two Activity Worksheet Template
As you complete this worksheet, use the County Health Rankings and Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention: Diseases and Conditions websites. For the last section, you may need to broaden your
search to find additional sources of information.
Identify the population related to your chosen issue. Be specific as you describe those who are
impacted by this issue. Details might include gender, geographic location, age, ethnicity, race,
socioeconomic status, and more.
The issue that has been selected is obesity. The population that has been identified to study the
issue is the adults of Morris County in the United States. About 25% of the adult population in Morris
County is obese (Adult Obesity. County Health Rankings & Roadmaps, 2022). c The age range of the
adult population selected is between 18 years to 60 years. Non-Hispanic black adults are more prone
to obesity in comparison to non-Hispanic white adults. c obesity prevalence is found to be higher
among the adults with less education levels in comparison to the adults with a higher level of
education in Morris County.
Identify the stakeholders related to your chosen issue. What individuals and organizations are
related to this issue? What individuals and organizations are important resources as this issue is
addressed?
The community stakeholder group that can help in addressing the problem of obesity among adults
in Morris County is the local physicians. Local physicians play an important role in diagnosing adults
with obesity (Sturgiss et al., 2018). c Not identifying the obesity issues can have a significant impact on
the quality of life of adults and may even lead to serious health conditions. The local physicians help
in the early diagnosis and treatment of the issue. They can educate the adults in Morris County
relating to the serious impacts of the issue and address obesity effectively and efficiently. As the
obesity issue is more prevalent among people with lower educational levels, local physicians can
provide knowledge to the individuals about the potential causes of obesity. They can help in
educating the people relating to the need to manage their diet and engaging in different exercises in
order to address the issue of obesity. People with obesity often face difficulty in losing weight and
improving their health conditions. The local physicians can recommend appropriate strategies such
as dietary changes, physical exercises, medications, and more to obese adults to help them
effectively lose weight (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2021). The physicians may
even suggest a certain change in habits in order to resolve the obesity issue among adults.
Why does this problem need to be addressed? What will happen if this issue is not resolved?
Obesity is a common yet serious problem. It is a chronic disease that needs to be addressed. c lack of
healthy eating habits and not engaging in sufficient physical activities usually result in obesity.
Obesity limits individuals from engaging in a number of activities and impacts their quality of life. If
the issue is not addressed, it can increase the risk of several serious health conditions as well as
diseases among adults. Obesity can increase the risk of health conditions such as high cholesterol,
type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure. It can even lead to joint problems like musculoskeletal
discomfort and osteoarthritis. Breathing problems like sleep apnea and asthma are also results of
obesity. Adults with obesity also have a higher risk of getting heart strokes and being affected by
different types of cancer. Mental illnesses such as anxiety and clinical depression, and premature
death can be other serious consequences if obesity is left untreated (U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services, 2021). c It lowers the productivity of individuals and increases their medical
expenses. Therefore, it is important to treat obesity among adults in Morris County.
