Why are you in school?
I am in school because I want to finish what I started many years ago. c I was immature and had
other priorities that I thought were important. I am older and more mature and understand
what I can gain from a great education. I am also a role model for my children, and it has
helped them succeed in school.
What are your strengths?
Some of my strengths are that I have great communication skills, work great under pressure,
work great with others, and solving problems. c c I can adjust to just about anything and work to
fix problems sooner than later.
How do you learn best?
I learn the best from never stopping my training or education. In my current career, I have
over 30+ certifications and continue to add to those. If you want to be the best, you need to put
the time and effort into it.
What are your skills?
Some of my skills are that I am great with computers, being a leader, communication skills,
organizational know-how, people skills, collaboration talent, and problem-solving abilities.
What skills do you want to improve upon or learn?
One skill that I think I need to improve is being a better person with technology. c I understand
it and learn while doing it, but it sometimes is challenging when you have not done some of
the technical things of today.
What are your interests and hobbies?
Some of my interests and hobbies are:
My Family (spending time with them)
Sports
Food
School
What problems would you like to address in the world?
The problems that I would like to address in the world are two issues. First, people with PTSD.
I am a sufferer of PTSD and know how it feels to be depressed or lonely and think about the
bad things that have happened to you. There needs to be a better way than just giving people
meds and sending them on their way. c Second, the opiate crisis in this country. c People need to
stop classifying these people as bad people and understand why they are doing the drugs and
understand that they are human too. c These two issues can go hand and hand together.
Where do you envision yourself in five years?
In five years, I envision myself receiving my doctrine in Public Health and making our
communities safer for our children and everyone who lives in them.
Which of the programmatic course themes is most relevant to your career or goals for personal
growth?
Self-care
Social justice
Emotional intelligence
Career connections
Ethics
In this course, we learned how programmatic themes can be relevant to our careers or goals.
The one that stands out to me is self-care. c Most people today like to “burn the candles at both
ends” as they say. When you do this, you tend to have the “burnout effect.” This means the
consequences are not in our favor like depression, anxiety, anger issues, and other medical
conditions. When we start to step back and look at ourselves, we need to say what is in our
best interest for me. Taking that time to reflect on yourself can reduce or even eliminate the
negative implications that are associated with life. I have learned that I am number 1 and if I
am not 100%, my career or goals will not happen.
Why are you in school?
I am here ay SNHU earning my BA in psychology. I will probably continue after that to
receive my master’s degree. I want to be a therapist, possibly run my own practice one day;
although just having a career that I am passionate about and pays well will be fully satisfying
personally.
What are your strengths?
I am highly independent, and I don’t usually require rigorous training (fast learner). When I
dedicate myself to something I give it all I’ve got, and I am reliable and timely.
How do you learn best?
For me, I have always found that I learn best by doing and failing and then trying again and not
just by watching something be done repeatedly. Written or spoken feedback, when used
respectfully, has always been a huge and positive motivator for me as well.
What are your skills?
I have advanced customer service experience. I am a quick and accurate typist. I know how to
quickly count and manage money. I have basic computer knowledge.
What skills do you want to improve upon or learn?
I want to further enhance my objectivity and self-awareness. I still find myself sometimes
assuming snap judgments and wanting to speak out when I should stay silent.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I love to read and write. I am big on gaming in my free time as well. Music is a huge part of
who I am, and to this very day helps to calm me or motivate me when I am feeling discouraged
or overwhelmed.
What problems would you like to address in the world?
My biggest issue with today’s world is people and their lack of accepting of and caring for
their own mental health. I also feel passionately about the fight against bullying; whether in
school or online, with children or with adults, it is a HUGE problem, and the problem grows
larger every day.
Where do you envision yourself in five years?
In 5 years, I plan to have my foot in the door as a psychologist or an intern somewhere and I
also plant to be working on my master’s degree in psychology if needed.
Which of the programmatic course themes is most relevant to your career or goals for personal
growth?
Self-care
Social justice
Emotional intelligence
Career connections
Ethics
To be successful in my future career and personal life I need to work on practicing more self -
care and growing my emotional intelligence. I am not in the healthiest state, and I wish I had
taken better care of myself physically over the years, now it is a struggle. Although I see some
major differences in my behavior and personality over the last few terms, I still find myself
wanting to be argumentative and irrational when responding to things I am passionate about, I
want to learn how to curb that temptation even further and continue to diminish my biases and
enhance my positive outlook and uplifting outreach.
I chose this photo because I have never heard the truth about honesty spoken so clearly, I live
my life for honesty, and I require it from anyone who holds a place in my life now. After a
lifetime of pain and deception, I refuse anything less than perfect clarity between me and the
people who surround me. If you cannot give me that I cannot give you my time, and I feel zero
shame in that.
It has been great working with all of you this term! Good luck to you all and thank you so
much for all your valuable input!

Ethics
[The programmatic course themes that are most relevant to my career and goals for personal
growth are self-care and emotional intelligence. Self-care is going to be extremely important. I
must take care of myself so that I can be fully present in those moments when assisting the
victims. Self-care is also essential for the victims to possess themselves in order to break the
cycle of attracting the same types. Emotional intelligence is what I will need when dealing
with each individual victim. Everyone's situation is different and will require a unique way to
deliver the appropriate assistance.]
You're probably wondering why I chose this photo, or maybe you're asking why would she
show this? Well, it's my history. If I don't try to understand it or talk about it (without shame),
I will repeat it. This is a part of me that I will use to help the victims I come in contact with. It's
my proof that wounds do heal. I am a survivor
Why are you in school?
I am in school to complete my degrees to become a nurse practitioner. I love to learn and grow
as an individual. Finishing my schooling will allow me to reach my goal of helping people in
the medical field to better their health.
What are your strengths?
My strengths are organization, empathy, detail orientation, and problem solving. All of these
strengths are vital in my choice of career.
How do you learn best?
I learn procedures or physical activities best by watching one time then trying myself hands on
to complete whatever task I am learning. I also do well trying to work out a problem that no
one else can seem to solve by using whatever tool I can utilize. I tend to take on tasks that other
people choose to avoid because it is too difficult. I do not like to rely on others to do a job so I
will learn whatever skill I need to learn to achieve that task by whatever means I need to learn
it. c
What are your skills?
I have many skills including medical skills, customer service skills, technology skills,
multitasking ability and a genuine want to always better myself.
What skills do you want to improve upon or learn?
The skill I always want to improve upon is my medical skills. The world of medicine is
constantly changing with time and it is important to keep up with those changes. Improving on
my skills and learning new skills is imperative in the field I have chosen.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I love to take photos and spend time with my family. I love to look through them all
remembering the memories but I never have the time to do anything with them because I live
such a busy life. I am not sure if I am quite crafty enough to scrapbook but making photo
books eventually is something I would like to do when I have time.
What problems would you like to address in the world?
What brought me into the field of medicine was an accident and the amazing care I received by
the paramedics and medical staff at the hospital. My mission in life is to be that person for
others who are in a crisis. Caring for those that can't care for themselves and being a rock for
them to hold on to when there is no one else.
Where do you envision yourself in five years?
I envision myself as a nurse practitioner caring for patients with my loving family by my side
and financially stable.
Which of the programmatic course themes is most relevant to your career or goals for personal
growth?
Self-care
Social justice
Emotional intelligence
Career connections
Ethics
Career connections and ethics are the most relevant themes to my career for personal growth.
In order to succeed, I must have strong career connections and personal relationships with my
co-workers. I need to stay true to the ethics of my job to make a difference for my patients and
improve their well-being.
The photo I chose and attached is a photo of a nurse practitioner assessing a child during an
exam. She is creating trust and developing a long standing relationship with her patient while
she examines her. This is how I envision my patient encounters once I achieve my nurse
practitioner licensure.
Why are you in school?
I am in school to get a degree in Game Art & Development. I would like to work in a video
game company creating art, and designing the visuals of upcoming games.
What are your strengths?
I am a quick learner and can adapt quickly to new tasks and environments. I am very
empathetic and can work very well with others. I am also organized and structured, allowing
me to deliver high quality work.
How do you learn best?
I learn best by hands-on experience. Once I start, the next best thing is trial and error.
What are your skills?
Computer skills is one of my strengths. Which is great because for my degree I use the
computer a lot. I also am proficient in many programs used in professional settings and
industries. I am completely bilingual, and can work very well with people.
What skills do you want to improve upon or learn?
Even though my degree is about designing and creating video games, I do not play any. So, I
am lost when my peers start talking and referencing certain games. I need to build my video
game knowledge, because I have come to realize it is crucial when interviewing and getting
into a company.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I love painting with oils, I play several instruments, and I like to read. I also love to have
movie nights with my husband, and play board games with my siblings.
What problems would you like to address in the world?
Littering, for sure. Littering is a big deal in America, and there is a lot of awareness for it, but
that isn’t the case in other countries. Of course, this is still a problem in the US, but at least
there is awareness. I lived several years in Colombia, South America, and I couldn’t believe
the amount of littering. Granted, it isn’t everywhere, but still in most places.
Where do you envision yourself in five years?
I envision myself in a little country house, working from home. I also hope to have children by
then, and my husband have a less stressful job.
Which of the programmatic course themes is most relevant to your career or goals for personal
growth?
Self-care
Social justice
Emotional intelligence
Career connections
Ethics
I feel like emotional intelligence is the most relevant to both my career and personal goals.
Emotional intelligence is what allows us to have healthy relationships both in the work force
and at home. It is beneficial to being able to work smoothly with those around us and making
sure we are being considerate of others. Not only of others though, ourselves too. We need to
make sure we do not over-burn ourselves, where we will then be no good to anyone.
Emotional intelligence allows us to put ourselves in others’ shoes, and to take sound decisions.
We are also able to understand our priorities and keep them in focus. Emotional intelligence
allows for everything to run smoothly.
I chose this image because I believe this is what represents what I stand for the most. This is an
image of the mural I made in my mom’s coffee shop business. Family is very important to me,
and this picture has different elements that each person in my family contributed. It also
represents hard work. After many years and hard work was this little nook finally able to
become a reality. And finally, art is a huge part of my life. This painting here was my first
mural, and I am so happy about the way it turned out.
Why are you in school?
I am in school to get my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and, hopefully, a doctorate after that.
I want to become a psychologist, likely clinical.
What are your strengths?
I am a good listener, empathic and kind. I get along well with most people and make friends
easily.
How do you learn best?
I learn best through reading and then repeating whatever skills I have learned. If it isn’t a skill
I can use, I learn by writing about what I have read or was taught.
What are your skills?
I am skilled at communication and have enough self-regulation to stop and think before
speaking, so I am good at not offending people. I am organized and good at following
directions, but creative enough that when directions are insufficient, I can devise a way to
work around them.
What skills do you want to improve upon or learn?
I want to learn more self-care skills or improve my existing skills. I am not great at self-care; I
tend to burn myself out all week and then come home and crash after my last day of work. I
currently work four ten-hour days and have three days off in a row, so I rest a bit on the
weekend, but on the first day, I can do very little.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I’m an avid gamer; I enjoy video games, tabletop gaming, and other types of games I can enjoy
with friends. I like reading; I love delving into new stories and exploring my world. I also love
the outdoors and camp often.
What problems would you like to address in the world?
I want to address the inequality that many people suffer in our world. I would love to see all
forms of discrimination go away, from ageism to racism.
Where do you envision yourself in five years?
In 5 years, I may still be working on my degree; my bachelor’s may take a little longer because
I have to work at the same time as going to school. I hope to buy a home soon, but the cost of
living is so high in the pacific northwest that I may have to move to accomplish that.
Which of the programmatic course themes is most relevant to your career or goals for personal
growth?
Self-care
Social justice
Emotional intelligence
Career connections
Ethics
Many of the programmatic themes fit in with my career goal. Emotional intelligence is
important in psychology; it takes an emotionally intelligent person to help others without
offending them or worsening their conditions. With social justice, a psychologist can research
and discover new ways to combat social injustices seen today; they can help educate those that
discriminate and hate others and help to change their minds. A psychologist also needs to be
adept at self-care; to help others, you must first be in the right frame of mind. Helping others
that are suffering can sometimes lead to compassion fatigue and burnout; proper self-care can
help combat those issues.
I've attached a picture of my little family because they keep me sane and make me feel loved,
and everything I work for is for them. I hope everyone can have a wonderful family like mine;
no one should be afraid to live the way best for them, and everyone should be allowed to love
as we do.
