Connections to Emotional Intelligence
With this job, I need to be aware of my actions and behaviors and how I handle them. Working
in a correctional facility, I will need to make sure I always have my emotions and feelings in
check. I wouldn't want an inmate to see a weakness and then take advantage of that to try and
manipulate me. I would need to regulate my emotions on a daily basis. If an inmate gets violent,
I need to stay calm so I can deescalate the situation and so the inmate doesn't use me as a pawn
or something similar.
