Analysing the wellness topic of work-life balance among working parents from a different
lens can provide insights into another aspect of the topic. For instance, viewing the wellness
topic from the social science lens can shift the views of individuals towards the role of
working parents in society and how it is related to their work-life balance. Society expects the
parents to take up a number of roles in the family. However, managing the demanding work
commitments and responsibilities of the family becomes a challenge for the working parents
(Adema et al., 2016). Unhealthy work-life balance among working parents can have a
negative impact on a number of aspects of their lives. It includes health, friendship, family,
romantic relationships, household management, as well as community involvement
(Gragnano et al., 2020). The lack of proper work-life balance limits working professionals
from fulfilling their duties towards their families and society at large.
Analysing wellness can help in effectively interacting with people with different
viewpoints and perspectives or coming from diverse cultures. Analysis of wellness develops
willingness among the individuals to communicate the experiences and information to other
people, thereby creating an opportunity to engage in a meaningful conversation. It allows the
individuals to engage in the conversion and add or share more information relating to
wellness. It helps the individuals to come together in order to share their ideas and gain new
perspectives on wellness.
The topic of wellness is becoming important in recent times. Wellness can be defined
as the state of being healthy in terms of mind and body that is often a result of deliberate
efforts (Barman, 2016). It also refers to the state of satisfaction or acceptance of the present
condition of individuals. Greater awareness of wellness can strengthen the conversations of
individuals. It allows the individuals to share strong points relating to the topic and be a part of
the conversation. It can lead to effective knowledge sharing. Knowledge sharing can be
defined as the mutual exchange of information as well as ideas that could have a significant

influence on others. It involves capturing, reusing, organizing, as well as transferring
knowledge (Yeo & Dopson, 2017). The knowledge of wellness allows individuals to
explicitly share concrete information and experiences in the form of storytelling or narratives.
In order to share accurate information relating to wellness, it is important for individuals to be
aware of the different events relating to the topic. It allows the individuals to illuminate the
other person about the different wellness-related facts that may be unknown to them. Greater
knowledge and awareness of wellness have the potential to facilitate further conversation
among people. It arouses interest among the other people, and they start making sense of the
information provided. Knowledge sharing helps in facilitating the translation of implicit
knowledge into more explicit form (Yeo & Dopson, 2017). Analysis of wellness can help
individuals to stay motivated with a desire to share information with others. On the other hand,
the lack of analysis may limit individuals from engaging in conversation as they would not
have any point to state.
I will share a personal experience as to how the analysis of wellness allowed me to
interact with people with different perspectives and viewpoints. One of my colleagues was
discussing the wellness topic of work-like balance. According to him, an unhealthy work-life
balance only has negative impacts on the health or mental condition of an individual. The
analysis of the topic enabled me to be a part of the conversation and contribute more insights.
I was able to share that work-life imbalance not only impacted the health of the individuals but
affected their social as well as family life. I was appreciated for providing new insights into the
topic. The analysis of the wellness topic helped strengthen my conversation with my
colleagues.
