as a leader
Module Overview
Leadership, as we are learning, is a journey, not a destination. As
situations, people, challenges, and opportunities change, so do the skill
set requirements for the leader. And when one considers the speed of
change experienced over the last century, transitioning from an
agricultural model to an industrial model, and now in the twenty-first
century to the digital model, the pace of change, as most would likely
agree, is accelerating.
Think about the transformational changes we experienced in 2020 due
to the pandemic: entire workforces working remotely from home;
transitioning from face-to-face meetings and learning in classrooms to
meeting virtually in a Zoom or Skype digital platform; service industries
such as restaurants, bars, and entertainment industries forced to
radically change their business models in order to survive. Such drastic
change required leadership skills and behaviors radically different from
those in demand in 2019.
Adaptable leadership is needed now more than ever. But a key
question needs to be asked: have the definitions of effective or
exemplary leaders, or transactional and transformational leadership
behaviors, changed as well, or are these constant despite the many
changes we have experienced over the past several years? Effective
leadership, as stated by Simon Sinek, requires only one thing—
followers. Which begs the million-dollar question: Will people follow
you?
This module will help you compare high-reactive strengths and
liabilities and explore non-differentiating strengths. You will also learn
about the relational traits that make a good leader great. You will work
on the employee satisfaction survey results evaluation assignment and
the GROW model journal.
