What does it mean to be unhealthy, and does the word "unhealthy"
automatically mean pathology?
Per the Merriam Webster dictionary unhealthy means " not
conducive to health: not healthy". Being unhealthy does not always
lead to pathology. You can have unhealthy habits such as smoking
and still be a healthy person. As we discussed in the first discussion
being healthy per the WHO is a state of wellbeing, physically,
mentally, and socially. This does not say you cannot have unhealthy
habits and still be considered healthy.
When we look at being unhealthy and drug treatments it depends on
the how you are unhealthy. I know your mental health can take a toll
but seeing a psychiatrist or a counselor to help you talk through your
issues and give you other avenues to try before they decide on a drug
treatment plan can work out better than the drug treatments. a My
nephew does better with a therapist then he ever did with being on
medications. The side effects from the meds were almost worst than
his mood swings from his bipolar diagnosis. So really it depends on
how you are unhealthy whether or not drug treatments are needed.
