Today no one at a job likes changes especially when it can impact not
just the reputation of the healthcare facility but it can also impact the
morale in the workplace as well. When converting from the old paper
files to a new EHR system this involves a lot of planning and to start
this planning you need to get the stakeholders on board because
without them then this major project was a waste of time and money.
So how would one want to implement a project this big first is get the
buy-in from the stakeholders by keeping them up to date every step
of the way is a good one another way is to enlist some or all the
stakeholders to help and oversee the migration from paper to
electronic.
Give demonstrations for the presentation to the stakeholders and
allow them to try the beta modem so they can interact and ask
questions above all. When presenting this demonstration keep it up
beat and stay positive never let them know that you are worried in
other words keep a good poker face. Now after the buy in you want
to keep your poker face with staff members and employees you
would also want to enlist employees to help oversee the migration
and lend a hand make it a positive migration party supply them with
food and show how much they are needed, buy having the
employees pitch in this shows the stakeholders that the employees
are looking for a new change to the way they do their job. The last
thing you want while a migration is happening is to have any sort of
negative feelings or poor morale especially in front of the
stakeholders. One last thing to remember is to allow staff members
and employees to always offer ways to improve your new EHR
system remember they are your front-line employees and without
their thoughts and ideas this new system may not take off properly
and you will have a lot of upset people.
