After reviewing the case study document and assigned reading for
this module, address the following as if you were the health
information manager:
Facilities are required to report certain measures to Medicare under
the Promoting Interoperability Program. Complete an analysis of the
HIE models that would be applicable to the Manchester Health
Access Network (MHAN), and recommend strategies for how this
facility can ensure it will meet the Promoting Interoperability
Program standards.
Your analysis should include the following:
Compare different types of models (centralized,
decentralized/federated, hybrid) and exchanges (directed,
query-based, or consumer-mediated) that would be applicable
to MHAN’s network. In your comparison, consider elements
such as the differentiation of the cost, quality/efficiency, time
to implement, and security of each model and exchange.
Justify the type of model and exchange that you would choose
for MHAN. Defend your decision based on evidence found in
your comparison of models and explain why this would be the
best model for your network.
Recommend strategies for how this facility can ensure it will
meet the Promoting Interoperability Program standards using
the chosen model and exchange.
To complete this assignment, review the Module Two Journal
Guidelines and Rubric
