I have selected the company Chevron. Chevron is using their option contract for
employee compensation. The value of the option contract had a fair market value of
$945,816 at the end of the year 2021. This fair market value of the option contract was
found by using Chevron’s weighted average fair value per option granted ($12.22)
multiplied by the shares outstanding on December 31, 2021 (77,399).
If I was a retiree from this company and received stock as part of my pension package
benefit, I would hold onto the stocks as long as they were underwater. I have learned that
it is extremely important to ride out the market when it is down because eventually the
market will go back up. If I am a retiree, I will not panic if I see markets drop, I will
instead be patient and sell my stocks once they are above water.
