Of all the research and writing strategies covered in this course, from gathering
sources to writing an outline to working on revisions, which have been most
useful for you? Share at least two strategies. How can you apply these strategies
in future courses and/or outside the classroom? What challenges did you face in
developing your argument? What could you have done differently? If you aren't
sure what you could have done to improve, ask a question to your peers about
what they found useful. Review the packing list located in the module resources
page and identify at least two resources you will apply the next time you're given
a writing assignment, whether in school, work, or life. When answering consider
the following: Why do you think these resources will be useful? How might you
adapt or change these resources for a different writing project? How did these
two resources help you with the project you just completed?
Two strategies that were useful to me were structuring your essay and narrowing your
topic. I can apply narrowing my topic in future courses when I need to write a paper and
do research. Narrowing your topic will help during research because it can narrow down
the results you get which will make it easier to create your research question.
Structuring your essay will help me in future classes when I am doing a paper because
it will help get my message across and will allow readers to see how my evidence
supports my ideas.
I noticed I am not the best at counterarguments. Finding any articles that had any type
of counterarguments was kind of hard which made it even harder to present a good
counter argument. Maybe next time I could branch out on how I research things and
where I do that research. What are your tips or ideas on how I can better improve my
counterarguments?
All of the resources I could apply in the future but two sources specifically I can use
when I am given a writing assignment are revision strategies and developing your
research question. Revision strategies would be the most useful because sometimes
we have a hard time noticing little errors we make in our papers and this source can
help you pinpoint those errors. Developing your research question would be useful by
helping find strong resources for supporting my argument and make a path for my
research in general. In past classes I have taken, I noticed I would always get a few
points taken off for errors in my paper and so revision strategies helped me revise in
steps. Developing your research question helped me focus on the topic I was writing
about and made the research more refined so I didn’t have to scroll through thousands
of articles trying to find a good one. Everything I have learned in this class can be very
useful and even though it isn't specifically related to the career I am working towards, I
always say it doesn’t hurt to have more knowledge on everything.
