Analysis of “Take a Break” by Nicole Peluse for Working Professionals
When you have a packed day and an endless list of things that you need to get done
before their deadline. Some of the things working professionals could have to get done
before deadlines could be a major project or a contract that is needed to start a new
project. The unrelenting pressure to excel and be perfect. You could think of a simple
remedy for stress that could help ease your stress and even enhance your productivity.
The simple solution to this is to incorporate breaks into your daily routine to help
manage and even reduce stress. You could also talk to your manager and see if you
could get some help from someone else at work to help with what you need to get done
to make sure you get it done on-time and ain’t overworking yourself.
In the article “Take a break” by Nicole Peluse. She explains all of the negative effects
stress has on your overall well-being and your productivity especially for people who are
in high-stress positions where they work. Peluse also mentions several stress management
techniques you can do to help reduce and even manage stress. Here are a few I think
could help a lot. Walking your dog, joining a local gym or yoga class, and even getting
regular exercise. ( Peluse, 2010, p.2).
Peluse states that the ability to understand and even manage stress will help reduce the
chances of developing depression or other health related problems like, heart disease, high
blood pressure and even a stroke. (Peluse, 2010, p.3). She also emphasizes that not
everyone experiences stress the same way as someone else might.

stressed or overworked. Some physical signs of being stressed or overworked are but not
limited to, Frequent headaches, stomach upset, feeling constantly tired, and even a change
in your appetite. Some of the Behavioral signs are withdrawing from social activities,
procrastinating on tasks at work and even neglecting personal hygiene and appearance.
The ability to manage and reduce stress will help with any mental health related
problems. Most people don’t know how to manage stress but Peluse gives several signs
of being stressed ( Peluse, 2010, p.2). Peluse wrote this article to help people understand
how important it is to take breaks no matter what you do because in the end it could
affect your mental and even your physical health.
Peluse emphasizes how important it is to accept and even how to process personal stress
levels. While understanding that not everyone understands or even processes stress the
same way as someone else might. Most people don’t take breaks and just work through
the day because they wanna make sure they get their work done by the deadline that
was given. Not taking a break at all throughout the day isn’t good for your mental or
physical health you could cause yourself to have headaches and even not do as good on
what your working on as you would of if you would of taken a break and just relaxed a
minute without thinking about work or anything else.

In the article Peluse emphasizes that it is important to reach out to family members and
even friends who have also had to deal with stress and how they learned to understand
and even manage it. You could also engage in a more active social life to help lower
your stress levels. Being happy can also help lower your stress levels such as reducing
the cortisol in your body and it even helps improve your mood. I think the best one is
that being happy activates the prefrontal cortex of your brain which helps you reflect and
be more aware of your thoughts.
In her article Peluse states that it is critical to deduce your stress to help your overall
health, but it can also play a part in positively affecting the people around you. The
happy and less stressed you are, the better you will treat the people around you. Most
people take being stressed out on other people but if they can understand it and
manage it than they will be happier and in turn treat the people around them a lot better.

chances of developing depression or even other health related problems. She also
emphasizes that not everyone experiences stress the same way as someone else might.
