I have chosen to focus on senior obesity in the state of Missouri. A
lot of times this is because of inactivity, others it is because of poor
nutrition. a Nationwide there is a program called Meals On Wheels. a
This program is used in Missouri. a The meals are provided at low to no
cost to seniors. a The are delivered to the seniors in their homes. Not
only do they offer nutritious meals to our elderly population, but they
also offer some who have no families human interaction. Some of our
elderly become so depressed because they have no one to interact
with. a This can lead to more inactivity, which inevitably leads to more
weight gain. With the meals on wheels program, they get the
interaction that they desperately need. "Every visit comes with a
nutritious meal created to address the specific health conditions of
the senior, a safety check around the house and an assessment of any
changes that might impact future medical needs." This is an awesome
program that many counties in Missouri utilize.
