In order to minimize the burden of obesity among adults in Morris County, suitable
intervention and prevention strategies need to be adopted. Such measures can play an
instrumental role in supporting health behavior changes in the community setting and minimize
the chances of obesity.
1. Health Behavior
The specific changes in terms of behavior that should be introduced to see any improvement
relating to the obesity issue include a rise in physical activity among adults and a reduction in a
sedentary lifestyle. Individuals must also avoid eating junk and unhealthy food that is easily
available in the locality. Instead, they must focus on maintaining a balanced diet and try to
manage a healthy weight by setting practical and achievable weight loss goals so that the chances
of gaining excess weight can be kept under check (Community Health Needs Assessment for
Charitable Hospital Organizations. Internal Revenue Service, 2021).
2. Resources
In order to support healthy behavior among obese adults in the community, a diverse range of
resources as well as health services can be used in Morris County that is available to support these
health behavior changes. ‘Get Active NJ’ is a useful training and grants program that specifically
targets municipalities that have a high risk of adverse health outcomes (Powell, 2021). This
resource can be used as it can promote healthy behavior such as walking. A number of technical
assistance tools are also available that the community members can use for managing their weight
and minimizing their risk relating to obesity. Some of the main tools that can be of immense help
are Walkability Toolkit, and NJ Community Health Assessment, Policy Tracking, &
Environmental Resources Tool.

Another useful program that can be used by the community members in Morris County to
effectively tackle the obesity problem is the ‘NJ Health Initiatives,’ which is a Robert Wood
Johnson Foundation program. This resource is dedicated to support innovation and drive
conversations for building healthier communities in New Jersey (Powell, 2021). Child and Adult
Care Food Program (CACFP) is another resource that can be used by the adults in the county to
manage their weights by adopting healthy habits. It is a nutrition education and reimbursement
program that ensures that healthy food is served to individuals, including children and adults, in
daycare environments.
3. Strategy
The key prevention and intervention strategies can play an instrumental role in supporting
behavior-related change among adults in Morris County so that their risk of obesity can be
reduced. The prevention and intervention elements can increase the awareness of people of
obesity and associated risk factors. Furthermore, they will be able to understand how proper
behavior and practice on their behalf can help them to manage a healthy weight and reduce the
chances of obesity and other health-related complications. The availability of a diverse range of
resources to manage a healthy weight can act as a source of motivation and enable people to focus
on their eating habits and physical activities. The strategies can broaden their insight into obesity
and healthy steps that can be adopted to minimize the associated risk.
