An initial advantage could be that it takes less time to procure or
produce an information system without the design and production
help of an accountant due to the fact that less people are involved
which could possibly result in less communication issues or barriers.
On the other hand, accountants are business insiders who understand
the company’s complexity. An information specialist should work
with the company’s accountant to learn an understanding of what
data will occur, how and which data should be stored and for how
long and how data should be processed to have the desired
information output. For example, a system specialist would not
necessarily know all the needed data input for a shipment order, such
as shipment number, date, account number and which transaction it
relates to. An accountant could give the specialist the needed info
and in return design the system to give prompts so that system users
put in the required data. With the help of an accountant the system
can be well designed and capture data more accurately and
completely. Resulting in having a more efficient system (Romney et.
al, 2020).
