report is extremely lengthy at 148 pages, whereas Target’s report is
simply a webpage. Cromwell lists town officials and background
information on the town, as well as a large number of notes to
accompany the statement. Target’s website has briefly supplied
numbers for the year and their strengths. Cromwell’s report goes
extremely in-depth with all aspects of their financials, whereas Target
is more generic and does not provide substantial information.
The lengths may be different due to the types of people interested in
reading these documents. Cromwell’s financial report is most likely
used by town officials in planning and budgeting, whereas Target is
providing general information to the public. Both are available for
anyone to read, but most people would not read a small-town
financial report. Target has many stockholders, so they would want
to see their yearly results.
