Introduction
Joseph is a well renowned character in the Bible, known for his integrity, bravery, and his
unwavering obedience and trust in God. It is easy to see how influential he was to not only the
people in his time but for generations upon generations to come. We watch as Joesph is thrown,
sometimes literally, into seemingly unescapable situations, and we watch God prevail time after
time again. Joseph sets an amazing example to adolescents everywhere because he shows us that
no matter what is happening in our lives if we trust in God he will work it all out for good. I
know this for fact because in Romans 8, the Bible says “We know that all things work together
for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
Joseph was a living testament to this even though he lived thousands of years before Paul wrote
the book of Romans. Most scholars believe that Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers
when he was about seventeen. It’s amazing to see how God can use such a young man to impact
to have a lasting impact on not just one but two nations.
Social Elements
Looking firstly at Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory, we can see that Joseph
was greatly affected by his Microsystem. Josephs innermost circle consisted largely from his
very sizable family. This family consisted of twelve boys, several wives, and several daughters as
well. The brothers were from many different wives which caused some dissension amongst the
brothers especially because the Bible clearly says that Joseph was Israel’s favorite son. “Now
Israel loves Joesph more than his other sons because Joseph was a son born to him in his old age,
and he made a long-sleeved robe for him” (Genesis 37:3) The second system that affected Joseph
greatly was the Macrosystem. Joesph was raised by a Godly man, who had many faults, but still
brought Joesph and his brothers up in the way of the Israelite laws. This would have affected
Joesph greatly because this was well before Jesus had come to die as the ultimate sacrifice, so he
lOMoARcPSD|61774779
would have had to give regular sacrifices or offerings, and adhere closely to the law set much
earlier before him. The third system that affected Joseph is the Chronosystem. Many things were
happening during the time of Joseph such as this was time where people still bartered and traded
goods and didn’t really have a from of currency. We see later in his life that the land is bountiful
before a terrible drought takes place, which puts him in a position to reconcile the wrongdoings
his brothers had committed against him. We know that there was some sort of slave trade seeing
as how his brothers sold him into slavery. We can also see how perhaps some of the struggles and
sin committed by his father and grandfather affected him and the person he grew up to be.
Spiritual Elements
The first spiritual element we can see exemplified in Joesph’s life is his spiritual life or
bis close relationship with God. We can see reading the account of Joesph in Genesis that no
matter the terrible circumstances he was put through he never lost hope or faith that God would
rescue him and work it all out for Gods’ glory. Even in bondage and imprisonment Joseph
rejoiced through it all and never lost sight of God. The second element to point out were his
exceptional morals. Joesph protected his integrity at every cost, when he was pursued by
Potiphar’s wife the Bible says that Joesph ran from that sexual temptation and remained pure and
kept his integrity. The third element is the social element, we can see how God blesses Joseph
with exceptional people skills. He gains the trust of every single person put into his path. From
lowly prisoners to the Pharoh of Egypt.
Joseph’s Influence in the Local Community and the Kingdom
lOMoARcPSD|61774779
Joseph impacted his local community by showing Jesus everywhere he went no matter
the situation. From slavery, to imprisonment, to being second over all of Egypt he never lost sight
of God. He also used the abilities God gifted him to save Egypt and the Israelites from starvation.
One of the ways Joesph impacted the Kingdom of God is that through saving his brothers from
starvation, he also protected the lineage of Christ because Jesus was born through the line of
Judah and Tamar.
Conclusion
On conclusion we can see how Joseph made a huge impact on the people around him.
From a slave to second in command of a nation Joesph was never arrogant and kept his focus
completely on God and because of his unwavering faith God blessed him more than he ever
could’ve imagined. Joseph is an amazing model of how we should live out our faith as well as a
reminder that God can use all things for good.

was greatly affected by his Microsystem.
Joesph greatly because this was well before Jesus had come to die as the ultimate sacrifice, so he
would have had to give regular sacrifices or offerings, and adhere closely to the law set much
earlier before him.
Even in bondage and imprisonment Joseph
lOMoARcPSD|61774779
rejoiced through it all and never lost sight of God.
Joseph is a well renowned character in the Bible,
known for his integrity, bravery, and his unwavering obedience and trust in God. It is easy to see
how influential he was to not only the people in his time but for generations upon generations to
come. We watch as Joesph is thrown, sometimes literally, into seemingly unescapable situations,
and we watch God prevail time after time again. Joseph sets an amazing example to adolescents
everywhere because he shows us that no matter what is happening in our lives if we trust in God
he will work it all out for good. I know this for fact because in Romans 8, the Bible says “We
know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according
to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28) Joseph was a living testament to this even though he lived
thousands of years before Paul wrote the book of Romans. Most scholars believe that Joseph was
sold into slavery by his brothers when he was about seventeen. It’s amazing to see how God can
use such a young man to impact to have a lasting impact on not just one but two nations.

as how his brothers sold him into slavery.
Even in bondage and imprisonment Joseph
lOMoARcPSD|61774779
rejoiced through it all and never lost sight of God.

Joesph greatly because this was well before Jesus had come to die as the ultimate sacrifice, so he
would have had to give regular sacrifices or offerings, and adhere closely to the law set much
earlier before him.
We know that there was some sort of slave trade seeing

the situation.

Joesph greatly because this was well before Jesus had come to die as the ultimate sacrifice, so he
would have had to give regular sacrifices or offerings, and adhere closely to the law set much
earlier before him.
Even in bondage and imprisonment Joseph
lOMoARcPSD|61774779
rejoiced through it all and never lost sight of God.
From
lowly prisoners to the Pharoh of Egypt.

he will work it all out for good.

Joesph greatly because this was well before Jesus had come to die as the ultimate sacrifice, so he
would have had to give regular sacrifices or offerings, and adhere closely to the law set much
earlier before him.
Even in bondage and imprisonment Joseph
lOMoARcPSD|61774779
rejoiced through it all and never lost sight of God.
Joseph sets an amazing example to adolescents

greatly was the Macrosystem. Joesph was raised by a Godly man, who had many faults, but still
brought Joesph and his brothers up in the way of the Israelite laws. This would have affected
Joesph greatly because this was well before Jesus had come to die as the ultimate sacrifice, so he
would have had to give regular sacrifices or offerings, and adhere closely to the law set much
earlier before him.
Even in bondage and imprisonment Joseph
lOMoARcPSD|61774779
rejoiced through it all and never lost sight of God.
It’s amazing to see how God can
use such a young man to impact to have a lasting impact on not just one but two nations.

was greatly affected by his Microsystem.
“Now

matter the terrible circumstances he was put through he never lost hope or faith that God would
rescue him and work it all out for Gods’ glory. Even in bondage and imprisonment Joseph
lOMoARcPSD|61774779
rejoiced through it all and never lost sight of God.

Joesph greatly because this was well before Jesus had come to die as the ultimate sacrifice, so he
would have had to give regular sacrifices or offerings, and adhere closely to the law set much
earlier before him.

Joesph greatly because this was well before Jesus had come to die as the ultimate sacrifice, so he
would have had to give regular sacrifices or offerings, and adhere closely to the law set much
earlier before him.
Even in bondage and imprisonment Joseph
lOMoARcPSD|61774779
rejoiced through it all and never lost sight of God.
