Reflection Question 1 (Miller text): According to the text, “the songs we sing with our
church must focus on the …(what?) Why is this important? According to our text, “We must
make sure that the songs we sing with our church focus on the attributes, characters, and actions
of God- His power, majesty, glory, justice, mercy, compassion, and greatness.”1 Our ability to
worship is constrained by what we can do and how we feel when we are self-centered. But when
we put our attention on God, He will work wonders in our lives. We must realize that worship is
about Him, not about us. You can start to notice how your worship experience can change once
you realize this. We must fill our services and songs with Scripture and drown our worship in
theology. By doing this, we will create a solid doctrinal base for the Lord to establish His
kingdom. It enables us to feel His presence in our lives and draws us nearer to Him. Worship is
more than just music or emotion. It helps us feel God's presence in our lives and brings us closer
to Him. Not only via music and singing but also by setting aside time each day to reflect on
God's magnificence, we can experience worship. Praise is a method for us to show God how
much we appreciate and adore him. One of the most significant things we as Christians can do is
worship God, and it's also just plain enjoyable! Worshiping and praising God makes us more
steadfast in our faith. According to the Bible, hearing and hearing again God's Word is the source
of faith. As we worship, it helps us understand God's character and what He expects of us.

Reflection Question 2 (Whaley text): What are the three things we must give God in our
worship? Which one do you struggle with in your private worship, and how can you
overcome it? According to our text, the first is giving God glory, the second is giving God
strength, and the third is giving God an offering.2 Deciding which one I struggled with the most
was a difficult choice. I definitely lack in every aspect, but the one that spoke to me the most
would have to be giving God an offering. I immediately thought about the story of the widow. In
Mark 12:42-44, God tells us about a woman who had very little but gave everything she had. If
you knew my life story, you would understand why I relate to her so much. However, instead of
being a willing giver like Abraham, I find myself being a Saul. To overcome this, I have to start
being more thankful for what God has given me and the opportunity to be able to give back to
God. Often times it feels more like an obligation than a sacrifice. Whether it be monetary,
physical, or time offerings, they must be given with a willing heart. I will pray that God opens
my heart to rejoice more with my offer and not to worry so much about what I am giving.
