Brief Summary
Cortez: Chapter 2
As I read Chapter 2, we discussed the parallels between Adam and Christ. Paul taught
that Adam was the first creation, and through him, sin entered, and all men died. The parallel is
that through Christ, all men can have eternal life. It gives an example of how we live as humans.
We can either choose to live the life of Adam and be worldly, which leads to death and
separation from God, or we can follow Jesus Christ and have an eternal life with God.
Strachan: Chapter 1
When I read this chapter, it talks about how we can understand who we are by examining
who God is. Since we were made in God's image, how can we deny that there is a God? It
explains what the image of God means to us. What characteristics are in every human no matter
where they are from or how they were raised? As we study God’s word, we will truly learn who
we are as humans.
Scripture Reading:
In this week's scripture readings, we see that it is pointed out that we were made in God’s
image, meaning that we have the characteristics of God imprinted on our hearts. It is there to
help us discern right from wrong and give us a purpose.

Video: What is Imago Dei?
In this video, we learn that Imago Dei is the study of the image of God. What it means to
have the image of God and how it teaches us to truly be children of God. It looks at the
functionality of what it means as far as God telling us to be fruitful and multiply and to govern
over the earth. And it also talks about the relationship side of Imago Dei.
Questions:
1. If sin never entered the world would Christ have still come to earth in human
form?
2. Why do so many people question Jesus if there were so many witnesses to his
resurrection?
3. What does it mean to have the image of God?
Takeaway:
God created us for a purpose. He made us in his image for a few reasons. God
wanted a relationship with us, He wanted us to tell people about Him. The
original plan in our mind was ruined by Adam when sin entered the world, but
God had already had the full plan laid out. Jesus came to earth as the second
Adam to give us eternal life.
