Biblical Metanarrative Essay
Introduction
The biblical metanarrative is a story they cover the four significant parts of the
Bible. The four parts are the creation, the fall, the redemption, and the new
creation. When the Bible is interpreted properly it is a handbook for life and how
we should live it. The metanarrative helps us to fully understand the God’s plan
an allows us to preserve our relationship with God. “If anyone takes words away
from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person and share in the
tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.” (Revelation
22:19 KJV). Throughout the Bible the paths God intends for us to take are clearly
drawn out.
Biblical Metanarrative
In the presentation, understanding the metanarrative, a metanarrative is a story
that unifies the diversity of the Bible. Over thousands of years, there have been
66 books that have been written by different authors, in separate times, various
places, with different audiences. There are even different genres such as poetry
and songs. The metanarrative is the overall story that puts it all together. "So, it
would be safe to say that although we typically refer to the bible as one book, the
Bible is comprised or a collection of books. (Rusty & Etzel, 2016 p.22). The
metanarrative four parts tells us about the spirit of God. In Genesis 1 and 2 in the
Bible, the creation of the world and of man is detailed. “In the beginning God
created the heaven and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1KJV). Humanity was created in

Gods image “So God created the man in his own image in the image of God crated
him; male and female created him.” (Genesis 1:27KJV). Then the fall of man
occurs when Adam and Eve disobey God’s word and command. Eve was deceived
by Satan. This is when God realized what sin was doing to the world he created.
He had to find a way for man to be redeemed. So, he sends down his only son to
fulfill this redemption. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only be
gotten son, that whoever believeth in him should not perish, but have ever lasting
life.” (John 3:16). God made a promise to restore humanity and the world. The
Bible holds the answers of what is yet to come.
Grace
There are many books of the Bible, even though they may be different, but they
all tell the story of creation, the fall, the redemption, and the creation of mankind.
Each one of the books also tells us about God’s grace and the love that he has for
all of us, even the ones we feel do not deserve his love. If it wasn’t for God’s grace
salvation wouldn’t be possible. When God created man, he knows that mankind
wouldn’t be perfect, and could not be without sin. He knew he would have to find
a way to free them from that sin. The Bible holds many stories of sin and in the
end, God forgave them for the sins they done. “God saved you by his grace when
you believed. And you can’t take credit for this it is a gift from God.” (Ephesians
2:8-9)
Love
Throughout the Bible the love that God has for humanity can be found. The

parts of the story. The ability to understand all the parts of the metanarrative is
critical to understanding what is taking place in today's world. God loved us so
much he sent his only son to redeem humanity from all their sins, “For God so
lobed the worlds that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him
shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) Image a world without love. We
think the world is full of evil now, but without God’s love this world would surely
be hell.
Conclusion
In conclusion the Bible is more than a collection of books, but more of a
story about God and the plans he has for mankind. So, for us to fully understand
our relationship with God we must also have an understanding on the creation,
the fall, the redemption, and new creation. We must know how all these parts
unify the Bible. We must understand we were all born sinners and the Bible tells
us God forgives us, but we must maintain faith in God’s love and grace as we go
about our lives. Our Biblical views can influence the way we live our life and the
decisions that we make, but we must rely on God and the tools he provides for us
to make sure we stay on the right path.
