The Biblical Metanarrative presents a deeper understanding of the Bible to help us his children,
understand the Bible as a whole. It is just retelling and explaining the Bible stories on a more descriptive
level, bringing the scriptures together and telling of a story. Starting from the book of Genesis to the
book of Revelation. It is about God, our father and how he lives and watches over us, his creation. I look
at it as the beginning and end of mankind. It also tells us how we should live our lives if we want to live
forever. Also, by reading the Bible and studying it, it brings us closer to God and strengthen our
relationship with our father. In this essay you will see how the word of God the Bible, is unified by using
these four major plot developments: Creation, fall, redemption, and new creation. We will start by
explaining how they are unified.
The biblical metanarrative has four major movements: creation, fall, redemption, and new
creation. The creation movement described the creation in Genesis. God himself did the creation in
seven days. According to the bible, the earth was empty and formless before creation (Genesis 1:2, The
New King James Version). God’s creation only took 7 days. God created Man and Woman to live forever
and have offspring to fill the earth and live in happiness. Not only live forever and be happy but also
worship and create a relationship with God.
We are all aware of what happened. They disobeyed Gods one rule and was exiled out of the
promise land. Because of that mistake evil arose and sickness and death came too. This was the Fall of
mankind. That mistake allowed sin into the world. We learn of evil from the stories like cane and able
two brothers who one killed the other due to him being jealous of his brother.
Many years later came the redemption for all mankind. This happened when “God so loved the
world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal
life” (John 3:16, New King James Version) By God doing this, it was to restore our relationship that had
been destroyed. His death and the resurrection were to serve as the end of a bad relationship and the
beginning of a new relationship between Man and God.
In the end his resurrection was the start of a new creation. Allowing us to have a second chance
at the eternal life. It is up to us to take advantage of this opportunity and create our own relationship
with God. For it is has been his plan from the beginning of times to have us all live forever in happiness
with out all the pain and suffering.
Love and creation are the two topics I’d like to address. These two areas are where you can see
how merciful God really is. According to Etzel and Gutierrez “It is full of portraits of His beautiful
creation of every person, His unconditional love, His invitation for all to receive His mercy and
forgiveness of sins, and His ultimate plan for all human beings who have ever lived upon the
earth.” Just from that we can see the love he has for his creation.
In the end love and creation show the unity within the Bible and how it utilizes the four
major plot developments. By watching how they all come into play with one another it is truly
amazing and allows us to have a deeper understanding of things. We see what God had
intended this life to be for us. One day we will get there, and we should all be ready.
