Teaching God’s Children
How can we not be created in the image of God? This is the question that needs to be
asked. The human body and all we can do are gifts from God. I truly believe that there is a God
in the Heavens looking down on all of his children. As a pre-school teacher, I have a great
responsibility in starting the building blocks of education in his children. As I look upon the
children in my class, I see God in them, even though each child is different. Jesus looked a upon
the Lord’s children, not for what they have done, but for what they are capable of doing.
Teaching the Children like Jesus
Jesus teaches us to welcome the children just like he did. “Whoever welcomes one little
child such as this in my name welcomes me. And whoever welcomes me does not welcome me,
but him who sent me” (Mark 9:3, HCSB). As teachers we are to welcome our students with love
and compassion. We are to feed their minds with positive things and tools for life. Just as Jesus
builds us up, we are to help our students learn success and not only in school but outside the
school environment. Jesus went out and taught the masses not just in the schoolhouse but
beyond. He would teach out the open and he taught in ways the common person could
understand. Teachers need to follow Jesus example and teach so the students listen and take
feedback from them. Jesus taught in parables, “The word parable comes from the Greek word
parabole; it means to throw alongside” (Krejcir, R., 2012). Parables use everyday objects to
teach valuable lessons much like the teachers of today use curriculums to teach a lesson.
Teachers need to give encouraging lessons that speak life into the children they teach so they
become better students and people in this world.

We are Wonderfully Made
One of the most beautiful things God created is all of us in his own image and made us
all unique. “For it was you who created my inward parts; You knit me together in my mother’s
womb. 14 I will praise you, because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made. Your works
are wonderful” (Psalm 139:13-14, HCSB). Just as God made us in his own image and teachers
us about ourselves and our walk with him, we get the privilege to teach students that they are
special and wonderfully made. Teachers teach this to students by the way we treat them in the
classroom and out of the classroom. Just like our Heavenly Father takes interest in things we do,
teachers should take an interest in some of the events students do. For example a teacher has a
students who is struggling in a subject and the teacher knows that student has a big sport event
coming up, and the teacher shows up to cheer that student on at the big event. That teacher
showed an interest in the student despite their struggle, just like our father does in us. Teachers
need to be their if possible to help lift our students up to show them they can do it and God made
them to succeed. “I am able to do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
Conclusion
We are created in his image not on the outside, but on the inside. Our Father in Heaven
can only give our talents, our love, and caring for each other to us, this is in his image. God is a
caring and loving God, Jesus, the great teacher, taught us this in the Gospels. As a teacher, I
believe, I have a great task in the influence on the spiritual faith of his children in my care. I find
myself thinking, what a great responsible for the teacher, of the young Jesus.
