Experience with Theology Essay
I somewhat already pretty much have a structure of the meaning in a way. It is a deeper study
of God Word and also implying that to your everyday life. As in decisions you make and
everything we do, even though we are humans and we live in a sinful world. Sometimes by
human nature we still might not make the best decisions in things we do on a day to day basis, so
by realizing some of the decisions we make, it is to adjust ourselves. Also, by doing this, we as
Christians can become more like God and the more we try and live according to His Word, the
more we are walking in His image. Well, there is a lot more to understanding theology, this is
what I have got out of theology so far. This is just my understanding, and well I do have family
members, and I did have a friend that has been doing this for a very long time. But, by asking
them what their meaning of theology is I have noticed I get a slightly different response, so by
reading the textbooks in the class and talking with them, this is what I have taken from this.
Well, personally I have not had any experience with theology in my past, only things that some
family members and a friend have told me. But, as stated above both parties have some what of
the same conclusion in some manner, also they have said some things different to a degree. My
thought after reading the chapters for this week and thinking about it. I feel that there is a lot of
people that take the study of theology and take it out of context and go a little too far with it.
What I mean by this is I feel that both parties have gone too deep in a way that I almost question
if there even really living by the Bible or the way they think. Now what I am about to tell you
which concerns me the most, is that the friend I had and a few family members they do not know
each other at all but have the same outcome which I have thought about this a lot this week. I can
only say this about my family as I have not known my friend but for some years. But, as for my
family, I can honestly see that before they had started the studying of theology, they truly were
living by God’s word. Like I had said they have been going at this for around 8 to 10 years and
well they are absolutely without question, way different, and it looks like they have mixed God’s
word into this and mixed their definition. They do things that the Bible says not to do, but when I
question this, and this also is the friend too. They are very quick to come off subject, and their
persona is evident, that no matter what you say they believe that they are right and act like they
are higher than you. They will also, preach to others one thing and within 10 minutes they are
doing the total opposite of what they just said. I had indeed thought about this that before they
got into this study, they were living more like God then: then they are now, and that is what I was
saying about taking this way out of context and coming up with their mix. But, this is the
shocking part, I have never met anyone that knows God’s word better than anyone else not even
preachers they both can by memory tell you over a thousand Bible verses all by memory. So,
through everything I have told you and I have looked at it from every angle, something is not
right, that’s why I believe a lot of individuals have to be taking theology to a different way,
another level. I believe, what they’re doing is not for the good I can seriously write a 5-page
paper about this and everything I have encountered.
The most important thing I want to get from this class without question is a better
understanding of theology. But, let’s be honest here eight weeks is a brief amount of time to get a
full knowledge of the study of theology. I just want to have a somewhat of a structure of what
theology is so, that even after this class I can continue to grow and I defiantly do not want to get
so deep into this that, I begin to act like my friend and family members. I have been going to a
Christian school all the way up to the 10th grade and would go to church twice a week I have
been bought up into a Christian environment my whole life. Without question 100% I know if I
were to die right now I would be going to heaven, I have a very strong relationship with God,
and I mean I talk to him like He is sitting beside me. God speaks to us through our hearts, and
when I may start going off path sometimes, God will very quickly get me back into that path. If
you are a true Christian God has your number, and He won’t let you go off the path but for so
long, and that is where I stated above the decisions you make might not be the best so, I try to
always go off the way my heart feels. It’s like He is saying, Shane, you know better think before
you make a poor decision and I feel it every time I get tempted or make a poor decision. So, what
I would like to gain from this class is more of God and an understanding of theology.
