After picking my Capstone Project I never thought I would run into issues, but I have. I live in a
Beach community; during the spring and summer months (April-August) my city is filled with
many people who come here to vacation and relax at the beach but during the fall and winter
months (September-March) it’s a ghost town. And with that my Capstone Project has been at a
standstill. I work for The Department of Children and Families (Division of Child Protection and
Permanency) I have looked up all resources that our agency are in contact with as well as outside
agencies again being a beach community the shelters they have left that are open are all in
jeopardy of being closed. Many have been closed due to no funding. I chose women shelter’s as
my Capstone Project and there are no women’s shelters in my city. The closet shelters are an
hour or two hours away. I have notice that small town and communities don’t have much to
offer like big major cities. I reside in Cape May Court house NJ, where poverty is high along
with crimes. Many jobs in my city are only seasonal jobs so as you can see that unemployment is
high as well, and you would think that they would offer places for children, women and families
to go for help our help with any type of assistance sadly the answer is no. I mention my
employment because I thought because of the nature of work we do finding assistant with my
Capstone project would be easy but again sadly the answer is no. Philadelphia is a one hour and
