a. Cations: Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium
b. Anions: Chloride, Bicarbonate, Phosphate/phosphorous

iii. Controls body water distribution and governs osmolarity
(solute to water ratio)

d. Know all fluid compartments
i. ICF: Intracellular fluid
ii. ECF: Extracellular Fluid: fluid outside the cell, aka either interstitial (aka third space)
or intravascular.
