Summary of the Author’s Main Points
This article examines how Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) affect
teacher-student ties. It looks at how these ties can be improved through planned methods. The
article says good teacher-student relationships are key to getting students involved in
schoolwork and improving their behavior (Martinez & Wighting, 2023). New and experienced
teachers used PBIS methods for two weeks, and the study used a mix of methods to gather
information. The study found that teacher-student relationships improved, with less conflict and
more emotional closeness. The research stresses how vital it is for teachers to put time into
ways to build relationships, which can improve student behavior and the classroom
environment.
Personal Response
By reading this article, I realized how individual, intentional actions impact
teacherstudent interactions. Techniques such as taking personal time with the students or
implementing positive reinforcement can reverse the dynamics in the classroom. Through my
experiences working with teachers, I have witnessed how they interact and behave better when
they are attentive to the students and care for their needs. I particularly enjoy the thought that
these techniques are not always advanced but simply a few, minimal actions, such as
complimenting or taking little interactions with the kids, because not only will it help with
managing the class, but it will help to cultivate an environment where the students feel
appreciated, believed in, and heard (Karasova & Nehyba, 2023). That assists the kids to interact
better throughout the learning process.
Scriptural Integration
Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not
depart from it," supports the article's points. The verse talks about how positive mentorship has
lasting influences, like the strong teacher-student relations in the article. Just as the scripture
shows how important it is to shape a child's path, PBIS strategies tell teachers to work with
3
students in ways that help them grow positively (Martinez & Wighting, 2023). When teachers
support students through plans made for them and show they care, they can succeed in school
and feel better overall. It reminds people that putting time into relationships now can help a
child do well later in life.
Conclusion
Thus, the article shows that Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) can
help improve teacher-student ties. Using straightforward, well-planned methods, teachers can
reduce classroom problems and encourage students to be more involved in their learning. The
article stresses the need for a kind, helpful place for students, which boosts their drive and
grades. Adding these methods to teaching helps students with their behavior and feelings.
Growing these kinds of ties is key to making a good classroom and assisting students to do well
later in life.
