Running Head: Meta-Analysis Article
Summary
The author of this article describes mathematical interventions for students with learning
disabilities. The article examines four main categories of instructional components. The
categories are (a) approaches to instruction and/or curriculum design, (b) formative assessment
data and feedback to teachers on students; mathematics performance, (c) formative data and
feedback to students with LD on their performance, and (d) peer assisted mathematics instruction
(Gersten, 2009). There was a total of 42 interventions that were reviewed during this meta-
analysis.
The purpose of the meta-analysis was to search for new instruction rather than to review
historical information from intervention studies. Different techniques and focus areas were used
to find a measurable outcome target area containing working treatments that would influence the
student's performance. The study's authors made it clear that working on these focus points only
scratched the surface of the problems that students with learning disabilities were struggling
with. As a result of the analysis, it is confirmed that students with learning disabilities will need
