CASE STUDY CONNECTIONS 2
Case Study Connections Assignment
A leader should use their experience, faith, and prayer to guide them as they create and
implement a plan for the future while navigating through the present and any obstacles that may
occur. Envisioning the future allows a leader to be rooted in the present while knowing what
outcomes they would like to work toward. Envisioning the future and sharing the plan to get
there also allows for leaders to establish a firm following from those involved. A good leader can
inspire others and make their followers do their best to achieve the same goals and create their
own. This notion of a shared vision is crucial for a leader to possess and encourage as it
positively impacts the organization. A good leader embodies morals and good working
characteristics, maintain good relationships, and strive to lead with a focus on God.
Personal Vision
Personal visions are a crucial aspect to good leadership as they are developed before
embarking on a mission and keep a leader on the right path until they achieve their goal. My
personal vision is rooted in three different scriptures: Philippians 4:4-9, “...whatever is true,
whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure...if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-
think about such things. Whatever you have learned...or seen in me-put it into practice,” Hebrews
12:1-3, “And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,” and Proverbs 27: 17, “As
iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” (New International Version, 2017). Keeping
these scriptures in the forefront of my mind as a leader helps guide decision making and future
planning through obstacles and events that arise along the way. Thinking of Philippians allows
me to evaluate the information received and ensure that I am trying to follow Christ’s example as
I lay the foundation for my followers. Approaching difficulties with the mindset of Proverbs and
Hebrews is a constant message to keep going and remember that what I am doing is going to

impact others and that I cannot give up. My personal vision of leadership helps to discern and
make sound critical choices for the future while strengthening those around me.
Communication is key to being a good leader in a school organization. This
communication is key to the relationships between staff, students, coworkers, parents, and the
entire school community. This aspect of public relations could be the difference between success
and failure for an organization (Moore, 2009). My personal strengths as a communicator are that
I understand how to effectively communicate ideas and needs to different stakeholders and
members of the staff and community of my district. I am also able to listen effectively to act as
mediator and mentor to adapt to difficult situations and keep my organization on the path to
success. This is demonstrated through my work as leader through meetings with various
community members and hearing their opinions on specific matters and being able to be a
transformational leader to help employees reach their true success, I show them the beginning of
the path that they need to take and let them find their way without micromanaging (Northouse &
Lee, 2021). A strong leader needs to communicate clearly and confidently to ensure their
followers know what is expected and keep them on the path you have envisioned for your
organization.
Connections to Leadership Approaches and Concepts
I hope that my leadership style encompasses the characteristics of a transformational
leader and a servant leader. I believe this because a transformational leader is confident in their
skills of guidance that they can motivate and help others strengthen their skills without
overpowering and overshadowing those trying to grow (Northouse & Lee, 2021). I want to
embody this type of leadership because it is shown to have a positive impact on creativity at
work and community morale (Afsar & Umrani, 2020). If the community is supported in their

individual growth, then the goal is more likely to be met for the organization. I also try to
embody the leadership style of a servant leader because I want to serve the community I am
representing. It is also shown that when leaders are focused on morals and others instead of their
own pride and needs, that their employees will act the same way and more decisions are made
based on morals and virtues (Wang & Hackett, 2022). Utilizing these two types of leadership
while maintaining a focus on God at the same time allows me to provide services to the
community while empowering and engaging them to be bigger themselves.
Actions
To strengthen the organization and be a good leader, a leader should continue to focus
and evaluate their personal vision to ensure they stay on the path to achieve their goal. To
continue to push my community to their fullest ability, it is imperative that I continue to create a
community partnership with the district. This collaboration and team development will be key to
a healthy environment and for great learning to take place. To do this, I will make sure that all
communications I need to send out are bilingual, mailed out, posted on social media, and done in
multiple forms so they reach all stakeholders and community members (Moore, 2009). I will also
make sure that I continue to pray and try to discern what is best in all situations so that I can
practice the qualities I see in Christ (New International Version, 2017, Philippians 4: 4-9). I will
also make sure that I am not a hypocrite and that my words align with the actions I carry out.
Through this type of leadership, the community will be strengthened and more likely to meet the
goals we set.
Building Others
To truly be the best leader I can be and empower my community, I cannot do it alone. I
am going to need the continued support and efforts of the community I am serving. To grow

others in my community, I am seeking continuous guidance from the Lord to continue to point
me on the right path for the students, staff, and community I serve. I am going to continue to
seek my own areas for improvement and bring that back to my stakeholders and staff so they can
use that information in their own careers. I will also ensure that I am positive and encouraging as
I listen and respond to staff that come to me with ideas to strengthen our district as well. I will
continue to listen to their ideas and help them adjust where necessary, but I will encourage them
to find their way to develop their own skills (Northouse & Lee, 2021).
To achieve all the district’s goals, I will have to be a good leader and listener to inspire
and motivate my followers. Through effective communication, an eye on God, and a clear
personal vision, the district will reach the success the community and I envision. I will need to
remember to run my race with endurance and pride and instill that same courage in others who
wish to strive ahead in their path. This confidence, leadership style, and pursuit of greatness is
going to help my community succeed.
