The growth and development of Stefani Taylor Murphy has been a path much like that of
a roller coaster ride. There have been successes and failures, laughs and tears. Beginning with
prenatal development through early adulthood, various stages of development have been
processed and navigated.
Prenatal Period
Conception occurred during the month of September in the year 1987. She found out that
she was pregnant at six weeks. The pregnancy lasted approximately thirty-eight and a half
weeks. The mother was older than the average female giving birth to a child; she was thirty-
eight years old. The mother did engage in some bad habits during the pregnancy that may have
placed the developing fetus at risk. For instance, the mother did not eat a healthy diet and gained
far too much weight. During the pregnancy, she went from 118 pounds to 176 pounds. The
mother also smoked during the pregnancy; however, no alcohol was consumed nor was there any
use of recreational drugs. Labor and delivery were difficult because her hips would not spread to
allow the baby into the birth canal. Suction had to be used on the top of the baby’s head. The
mother also had to have an episiotomy. The mother was in labor twenty-eight hours.
Infancy
Stefani Taylor Murphy was born on Sunday June 26, 1988 at 9:35 PM. She was born
with the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. Once the infant was born, it was discovered
