Source of Activity:
On April 4th, 2017, at 0630 hours, I was dispatched to 227 East Memorial Drive,
Normal Virginia for a DOA (dead on arrival) call.
Observation:
When I arrived at 227 East Memorial Drive, I knocked on the front door of the residence and
received no answer. I proceeded to go to the sliding door and found that it was unlocked. The
victim, Natalie Lynn Turner, was slouched on the couch, deceased when I arrived. At first
glance by the overview of the room it appeared to be a suicide. Ms. Turner had a suicide noted

typed on the computer, 3 bottles of pills, with pills laid out across the coffee table. All items
were seized and collected as evidence. The victim’s friend, Chelsea Ann Howser, who made the
911 call, was sitting at the kitchen table.
Arrest:
No arrests were made at this time.
Statements:
After questioning the friend, Chelsea Ann Howser, she stated Ms. Turner worked at Espresso
Café. The witness said she arrived early that morning to go on a run with the victim. Ms.
Howser said it was unusual that Ms. Turner wasn’t outside waiting on her like normal. She
stated she entered through the sliding door as well, which she noted was never unlocked when
she used to live at the residence. Ms. Howser said that’s when she found the victim slouched on
the couch. The witness stated the victim had recently broken up with a man named Zach Cain.
Ms. Howser said she experienced Mr. Cain occasionally raising his hands at the victim but
never actually was physically aggressive.
Booking:
Nobody has been booked at this time.
Evidence:
At the victim’s location, 227 East Memorial Drive, an IBM Thinkpad (serial number 05A5439)
and 17 unidentified pills were collected and bagged as evidence. At Mr. Cain’s residence a red
Kate Spade purse with the victim’s ID and business card for a psychologist with black leather
gloves were collected and bagged as evidence.

Additional:
I visited Mr. Cain’s residence, 410 Brown Street, Apt 812, Normal, Virginia 12345. Mr. Cain
opened the door to his apartment and then allowed me to search his residence. After finding at
the above-mentioned evidence at his residence, before I was able to question him further, Mr.
Cain he ran outside and drove off in a 2016 Nissan Sentra south towards the interstate.
