Trustworthiness of God
In my life the circumstances that have shaped and influenced my view of God is when as a
teenager who was in the tenth grade and my biological father came to me and my mother’s
apartment one evening and when my mother went in to her bedroom and shut the door while me
and my dad were having a conversation he looked at me in the face and told me that “I was a
mistake!” and that he could have gone to Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas on a
baseball scholarship. You see my parents were both teenagers when I came into this world. I
remember looking at him dead in the face and told him “Thar he was the mistake that my mother
should have picked another man to be my father and that he could have taken himself to that
university and gone to school and played ball and graduated so that he could have come back
home and be a man and take care of me and my mother!” The Scripture Psalm 139:13-14 (ESV)
says “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise
you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very
well.” On December the 18th 1999 I had given birth to my son and him and I were chosen by the
nurses in Labor and Delivery to be on a local television network because my son was supposed
to be a Millennium Baby, and but he decided to come early and little did I know that later on that
evening a nurse came into my room at the hospital and I was not breathing. I slept through
Christmas of 1999 I was in an induced coma for a week because my blood pressure was 500 over
something and my lungs had completely filled up with fluid. I had Infectious Disease and
Pulmonary Doctors along with the eight Obstetricians that I was working for and my Aunt was a
State Certified Hospital Compliance Officer and my other Aunt was a Chief X-Ray Tech and my
Grandmother was a nurse. My Aunt ran the nurses who were taken care of me. I wanted to say,
“Glory Be To God!!! I woke up out of that comma and I was frightened because I had so many
tubes and IV’s and I could not speak and then a nurse walked in to my ICU room and ran out of
the room shouting, crying and running down that hospital hallway praising God and Jesus and
said she is awake!! The Scripture Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV) says, “ For I know the plans I have for
you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” I used
to sing gospel songs outside of my grandmothers window at the age of 4 and I was baptized with
my grandfather at the age of 10. In 2010, I became the 8th female to be licensed as a Minister to
preach and teach God’s Word and then in 2017 I became the first female to be a Minister and to
be licensed as an Evangelist in Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church In Cedar Creek, Texas in its
133 year history. The All Sovereign and Mighty God That I Serve can be Trusted because if he
can bring me out of a comma with 500 over something blood pressure and to be called to preach
and teach His Word and to speak boldly to my father but not in a disrespectful way and to
survive being abandoned by my husband who was addicted to pornography, alcohol, drugs and
who I later found out that he had an affair in 2013 with a Ministry Leader at our former church
which I did not find out until 2017 and then five days before our ten year anniversary he
abandons me and then has another affair on me while he went to see his son graduate from High
School and married her this year. In the midst of all of those unforeseen circumstances I trusted
that God would give me a clean bill of health in that I had not contracted any STD’s or STI’s or
HIV/Aids. I remember God speaking to me and saying to me that “I want you to Be Still and
know that I am God because I moved your husband out of your life because he was disobedient
to Me and that because of your obedience to Me and your vows he had to leave instead of you
because I did not want him to feel validated or vindicated in his unhealthy behaviors.” God’s
Word is a roadmap while we are on our Christian Journey. “He wrote the Bible so we could
know Him better and begin to understand how very much he loves us.” (Moore & Moore, 2003).
As Christian Counselors the trust that we have in God allow the Holy Spirit to guide, discern and
listen to those women who are wanting to feel safe and free because you have provided an
environment that is totally dependent on God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit because we are only
being used as God’s vessels to help those who are hurting and who are in need of wise counsel to
deal with life’s challenges. I can and have been counseling women from the time I was in High
School up until now. God entrusted me to be a counselor so I Trust Him In All Things.
