Forecasting is one of the tools that managers of an organization use in the decision-
making process (Rombe, 2018). These tools provide them with answers to significant questions,
such as if they need to build another plant to cater to demand. While often, microeconomic
factors are considered in the decision-making process, Barbaglia et al. (2022) show that
organizations enjoy significant improvement in their forecasting processes when they consider
sentiments.
One of the companies that rely on forecasting in their operations and planning is the
Coca-Cola Company. The Market Screener (2023) makes use of demand forecasting to gauge the
firm’s sales in the first quarter (10 521) and second quarter (11 620) of 2023. The article uses the
company's historical data to predict the likely trend the firm will take in sales and point out
whether the firm will have a high or low demand. Lucas (2022) shows that as the company raised
its full-year outlook, it predicted that it would continue utilizing its current strategy, which is
two-pronged and allows them to keep its sales growth. In this strategy, the company has been
committed to increasing the demand for its product by catering to its well-off markets by hiking
its pricing while offering affordable options to other markets. Through their projection, the Coca-
Cola Company predicts that the macroeconomic issue of inflation will continue to impact the
firm's operations and thus raise their expenses in 2023. Further, the revenues and earnings of the
firm are projected to be impacted by foreign currency. As such, they will have to keep hiking
their prices.
