JOURNEY THROUGH ACTS ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Chapter Summary Themes
Acts 1 Jesus, after being crucified and rising from the
dead, has just appeared to us and gave us a
gameplan to be his witnesses all around the world.
We also needed to figure out who would replace
Judas and we did that by casting lots, It is going to
be Matthias who takes over.

Acts 2 Something cool happened today, we were all
together getting ready to enjoy a feast when
suddenly the thing that Jesus had promised came
to us. The Holy spirit came, and it made a grand
entrance. Then after that Peter, got up and started
preaching, when he was done, 3,000 people
believed in Jesus!

Acts 3 So, we are still learning all that the Holy Spirit can
do but today God showed us something sweet
through Peter and John. He showed us that the
Holy Spirit could heal people. What a sight, a
lame man was healed. Peter used this time to
speak about what Jesus is doing again.

Acts 4 It turns out that some people are not enjoying what
we are doing. After Peter was done speaking, the
Sadducees came and took Peter and John to jail.
Talk about buzzkills. They were in jail for a whole
night, Peter explained what they did and the
council didn’t have any words so they decided to
tell us that we couldn’t preach Jesus anymore. I
think they were scared. After Peter and John were
released, a bunch of people prayed for us!

Acts 5 Today, A man and his wife lied to the Holy Spirit
about the money that they should have tithed. God
did not like this so the two people were killed.
After all, sin does lead to death. After that some of
us were thrown into jail again but a nice man
named Gamaliel spoke some sense into the
council men. I think they were going to kill us but
they did not.

Acts 6 Some Hellenists were getting annoyed with the
way that we apostles were doing things. Help was
needed in many different places so we chose seven
of us to serve in specific areas. One of those was
Stephen and this guy was so full of the Spirit. I
wish you could have seen it. He preached the
word, which as you could guess, some people did
not like.

Acts 7 Stephen was really full of the Spirit, and I’ve been
a little bit jealous but today I was not jealous of
him. He had to speak in front of the high priest
and they did not like what he said. They ended up
stoning Stephen even though he was just trying to
preach the truth! A man by the name of Saul was
in charge of this stoning. Stephen ended up dying,
but when he died he had a forgiving heart.

Acts 8 I heard a couple stories about some things that
have been happening. The first one is sad and that
is that there is a man called Saul who is doing very
bad things to the church. However, the gospel is
still going out and two very important people have
believed in Jesus. One of them was a magician,
the other is a Eunuch.

Acts 9 Remember that guy Saul that I was telling you
about? Well, today Saul became one of my
brothers. It really showed the forgiving power of
God and it showed the power that the Holy Spirit
has! Saul began to teach and preach, it was
awesome. Some of the disciples took a little while
to believe that Saul had changed but he really did.
Then Peter began doing some crazy miracles
through the spirit.

Acts 10 In today’s action, we have received reports that
Peter has begun teaching to the Gentiles. What is
even crazier than him teaching the Gentiles is that
they are even receiving the Spirit. We did not
know that this was going to happen, but the Lord
has surprised us yet again! Now, our ministry can
be really opened up to all of the people around.

Acts 11 Nothing too crazy has happened in my life, but we
did get reports of some awesome life change that
has been happening in the lives of the various
disciples around the world. We received word of
what happened with Peter and the Gentiles, and
we even heard of what happened in Antioch.

redemptive power that he brings.
Acts 12 Something sad happened but we are rejoicing
today. James, the brother of John, has been killed
by Herod. We are sad but also are happy that
James gets to spend eternity with Jesus. To live is
Christ, and to die is gain! Herod has gone on a
mean streak, and he even imprisoned Peter.
Luckily Peter got out by the hand of God, and now
Herod is dead.

Acts 13 Paul, who kind of has changed his name from
Saul, has now started travelling around and
sharing the good news with people at various
cities. He hopes to start churches at the cities that
he is travelling to. He went to Cyprus and the
Holy Spirit did an amazing work. Then he and
Barnabas went together to Antioch and Paul
preached for a really long time!

Acts 14 Paul and Barnabas are continuing on their trips
and now they have gone to Iconium and Lystra.
When Paul was at Lystra he made the officials
mad and they stoned him. This was a scary
moment and many thought that he wasdead but
the Lord kept him alive. After that, Paul and
Barnabas returned to Syria.

Acts 15 Over the past few months a situation has arose
between the Gentiles and the Jews. Many jews
believe that the gentiles should be circumcised if
they come to faith in Jesus. However, the gentiles
don’t believe that so a bunch of us Apostles got
together and discussed what needs to happen. We
decided to write a letter stating our answer.

Acts 16 Paul and Barnabas have split up now and Paul has
begun visiting some more cities. They are now in
Philippi and Paul and Silas are in jail. They are
able to have joy in their hard circumstance and
that actually served as a testimony to the jailer
who became a follower of Jesus! This was so
exciting for us because Paul and Silas got out of
jail too.

Acts 17 Paul is continuing to preach the word of God to
the people at many different cities. Over the past
few days he has gone to Thessalonica, Berea, and
even Athens, at the Areopagus. At each spot he
preached the word, and many understood and
were saved. Not everyone that listened to Paul
actually believed his words, but we trust that God

Acts 18 Paul has now decided to visit the Church in
Corinth. There are some really bad things that are
happening there and many people do not want
Paul in town but the leader said that Paul was not
doing anything unlawful so they can’t do anything
to him. Paul went back to Antioch after that and
continued to travel from town to town and church
to church.

Acts 19 Some people have heard about the great power of
the Holy Spirit and tried to go about casting
demons out of people on their own. They did not
rely on the Holy Spirit however and were
overtaken by evil. Many people saw this and God
was still able to use it to show His power. Shortly
after, the Ephesians wanted to serve their false
god, Artemis.

Acts 20 A few months have been going by and Paul’s
work, or shall we say the Holy Spirit’s work
through Paul has not ceased. Paul travelled from
Macedonia to Greece and even to Ephesus again.
At one of the stops in a city called Troas, Paul was
able to heal a man that had fallen from a three
story building. God is on the move. Paul was able
to encourage the elders of the Ephesian church.

Acts 21 Paul has been making some not-so-friendly
friends. There are a lot of people that don’t like
him and what he has been preaching. They want to
torture him and kill him, but Paul understands this
and is willing to do that for the sake of Jesus’
name being preached. This was so encouraging to
us. Nonetheless, Paul did get captured and yet was
still given a chance to Preach.

Acts 22 Paul has been talking to people outside of the
Roman tribune. They allow him to speak even
though they want to wrap him up and whip him.
The Holy Spirit works and allows Paul to plead
his case as to why he shouldn’t be whipped. After
all, Paul is a Roman citizen and uncondemned.
The council at the tribune still wants to know why
the people were shouting so they don’t let him go
yet.

Acts 23 Paul is able to explain himself to the Roman
Tribune and they end up letting him go. The only
hard thing is that there are still a group of people
that want Paul dead. The Spirit of the Lord

protects him and Paul is sent to the Governor at
Caesarea. Here both Paul and the ones that want
him dead are going to make a case for what’s
happening.
Acts 24 This man Felix wants to hear all that Paul has to
say. The thing with Felix though is that he wants
to be liked by everyone. So, he ends up keeping
Paul in prison for a really long time. The whole
time he was trying to get money from Paul. The
whole thing seemed unfair to me but at least Paul
was safe!

Acts 25 Finally, a man that has taken over for Felix
decides to let Paul go talk to Caesar. Paul hopes
that when talking to Caesar he can show that he
has done nothing wrong. Two people come to help
in this whole situation who then make Paul speak
to a crowd of people to defend himself.

Acts 26 Paul got to talk to a whole council of people about
whether or not he should be freed or put to death.
Paul basically told his whole testimony and it
ended up being enough for him to be freed. The
leader, King Agrippa said that Paul would now
have freedom. What a relief that was for us.

Acts 27 After Paul has been released he decided to go to
Rome to talk to the Roman church about some
very important ideas. The ship that we all got on
to go to Rome in didn’t make it though. We were
Shipwrecked. Paul was a good leader this time and
we were all okay. There was 276 of us on the ship!

Acts 28 It is almost time for me to retire, but Paul had a
few more stops that he had to make. He went from
church to church and city to city encouraging
them to continue loving Jesus and serving him.
Paul lead in such a great way and was a big
encouragement to the leaders of the Church here
in Rome. Paul Decided that he might settle down
for a while.
