B. Having read the passage in both formal and functional translation, list at least 2 similarities
and 3 differences between the way both translations cover this story. You may list as many
similarities as possible and differences that you find you meet the minimum amount. if
1. Similarity – Both paraphrases note that the convert named Tabitha was helping
those in need, always doing good shops, and they both mention that she came ill
and failed; her body was moved upstairs into a room.
2. Similarity – Both paraphrases state that “multitudinous people believed in the Lord”
after Peter told Tabitha to get up and helped her up on her bases.
3. Difference – One restatement mentions that Tabitha was full of the good workshop
(ESV), but in the other countries she was “always doing good and acts of charity
and helping the poor ”( NIV).
4. Difference - The ESV says that when the two men were transferred to get Peter,
they asked him to come without detention, but the NIV states that they asked him to
come at formerly.
5. Difference - states that when Peter turned to Tabitha’s body, The ESV restatement
sat up once she saw him. He also he told her to arise, and she opened her eyes and
advanced her hand and “raised her” (ESV). The NIV restatement mentions that he
up, so she opened her eyes, saw looked at the dead woman and told her to get
Peter, and sat up. He “took her by the hand and helped her to her bases” (NIV).
