Journal annotation/Final essay
Annotated Journals assignment
JOURNAL 1: As I stated in journal 1, I made a plan and time-table for myself to be more
productive and time-bound. I already have all the responsibilities of myself in my life. I do
things for me and people around me. I am trying to work on all the themes and ideas I
discussed in the journal. If I keep working, I believe I can become a more productive and
capable leader.!
JOURNAL 2: Personally for me, I have a lot of blind spots. Academically, I get a lot of
anxiety before exams. I do well on assignments but when it comes to exams, I fear a lot
of failing and not getting enough. I found this out last semester. I wanted to work on this
but didnÕt know how. I took help and worked on myself but there wasnÕt enough time. I
still face this but hope to get better with time.!
JOURNAL 3: With time, I have learnt to acknowledge things. Whether they were my fault
or not, theyÕll change my life and I will have to face the consequences. If there is any
problem, I think about how will it change the aspect of my life. I try to frame the challenge
as an opportunity to strengthen my resolve. If ever my mind says that I will not be able to
do this, I remind myself of the consequence I will face if I do not pay attention to the
challenge and work to resolve it.!
JOURNAL 4: I have learnt to use growth mindset in all of the di cult situations. I strive to ffi
always have a positive mindset. Whenever I come across a di cult situation, I try to look ffi
for a solution. This type of mindset has always helped me to turn a situation around. If
not, I know how to cope with such situations. I feel more strong from the day when I
wrote this journal. I believe more in myself to make things right. I know that it is only me
who can make things right or ruin my life completely.!
JOURNAL 5: I have learnt how to learn from the challenges life throws at me. I try to take
help whenever I can. I depend mostly on my personal relations to get through di cult ffi
times. Whether it is happiness or sadness, I have started sharing it with the people I love.
I believe sharing things with someone close I will not carry all the burden alone and I will
also learn to make relationships. By taking help, I have also learnt a lot about the
resources present on campus. God forbid but if there is a similar situation next time, I will
know where to go, whom to contact and what kind of resources are there in ASU to help
me deal with my issues.!
JOURNAL 6: As I stated in journal 6, I do my work according to their importance and
urgency. I divide my time equally in all the four quadrants so that I can work and enjoy life
equally. I divide the things I have to do in accordance with my goals. I remind myself to
spend meaningful time to each quadrant. I avoid procrastination as much as I can.!
JOURNAL 7: I have learnt to be positive in di cult situations. Whenever a situation arises, ffi
I tell myself of the ways I can overturn the situations. I try to be happy and spread joy
rather than one of frustration, anger, fear, anxiety, or sadness. !
JOURNAL 8: I have created a concrete and realistic plan to achieve my goal. I have
decided to work hard on that so that I can achieve my goals. I have decided to change
my way of thinking, doing and feeling about myself and my future. I have also decided to
take my own responsibility to move ahead and reach greater heights. I believe itÕs only
and only me who can change my destiny.!
JOURNAL: The day I wrote this journal, I actually looked around myself and started
Þguring out what people think about me. What is the word I am known mostly by? How
am I appreciated by my acquaintances? How I make people happy? I have been told by
people that they are happy when they are around me. I never really thought over this. But
now I know that I am important to people around me. I appreciate their compliments and I
remind myself how good I can be. These positive thoughts Þll me up with energy and I am
smiling brightly all day long.!
FINAL JOURNAL: In the Þnal journal, I wrote a message to myself. Writing it made me feel
good and conÞdent. I thought I will be able to do so much more than I imagine myself
doing. After that day I journal daily. I tell myself what I am capable of. I tell myself about
my own di erent speculations of the day. I reßect on myself and my life. I Þgure out ways I ff
can solve my problems. This made me realize that I am my very own best friend.!
UNI 220 FINAL ESSAY
This term was of great improvement for me. I improved in di erent ways. I got better than ff
what I was the last semester. My strengths such as Þnding ways in all the situations and
always being calm will greatly help me in reaching my goals whereas my weaknesses
such as procrastination and not being serious about things may become a hindrance in
my path but I will also work on that. In this class, I had strengths and weaknesses too. I
was quite informative and enthusiastic for this class. I always had ideas and thoughts to
share. I was also over-conÞdent of doing good. I was always sure that I will do good
whether I worked on it or not. !
The most important thing I learned this session was consistency. This session taught me
that I could learn anything and doing anything by practicing and being consistent in that
particular thing. I was able to do and learn new things by being consistent about them.
Since taking UNI 220, I learned ways and opportunities I had but never knew about. I
learned more about myself. I also learned better about my surroundings. Academically, I
have changed my views of depending everything on grades. I learned to be better myself.
For the next semester, I have already learnt many new tips and techniques. I am taking
the tip of being consistent, punctual and positive about things. This is because these
were the ideas or tips that greatly helped me this semester. I not only improved but also
learnt new things as a student.!
After completing this course, I can advise my fellow batch mates to learn more about
themselves and work hard the way they are convenient and like more. I can tell them and
even help them to look at a brighter picture. Being away from my family has been the
greatest challenge for me till now but this is what I chose for myself. It has a ected my ff
academic life greatly but I still try to manage things. To manage this challenge, I have tried
to blend in here more, made more friends and became more comfortable. Obviously,
comfort will come with time but I tried the best from my side.!
This semester I changed a few of my study habits to suit me more, I made less restricted
schedule for me and I allowed myself to rest. These changes proved better for me and I
believe they will be beneÞcial for me in the long run. Even after all this, I want to change a
few things about my attitude towards important things. I want to become more serious
about things and the work I did on me this semester will help me in that. I sat down to
study consistently around the same time everyday to make a habit. I did work as soon as
possible so that I take it seriously and I am hoping and wishing that all of this will help me
in changing my attitude towards life. !
My perspective on life and learning has always been the same. It did not change. I still
believe that life and learning will continue as long as we are willing. As life goes on, I will
keep learning new and better things about myself and my surroundings. And according to
this belief of mine, I learned new things this semester too. I learned how to play squash. I
learned more about art by taking an art class. I learned more about myself by taking help
of the counseling sessions available in ASU. Yet, there are skills I need to learn. Even if I
learn most of the things, there will still be things I will not know about. !
The stress quiz, the assignment where I had to evaluate myself and the videos about
oneÕs personality stuck out the most to me. I found them intriguing and helpful for me. I
could relate to the class sessions a bit more. This semester I am proud of the person I
have become, the improvement I have made and the things I learned. I am proud of the
person I have become.!
