life as a student, at work and with your family. What can you track to make
improvements?
By tracking things I feel it makes us accountable to make sure we are following through on what
we are doing or what we committed to do. They way I keep track in school is by having a
physical planner and make sure that I know what is due each week. I make sure to turn in my
assignments and have the allocated time to complete them. At work, I make sure I keep a to do
list of all my tasks. I also make sure to block time on my work calendar to work on things and
this also helps me keep track of what I have been doing as well. With family and friends I don’t
keep track of things. I do make sure that if birthdays come up that I send a gift and a message. I
make sure to check my personal calendar for improvements. I think what I could improve in is to
reach out to my friends and keep track that there is a reoccurrence of maybe monthly check ins
with them.
"Only the Paranoid Survive". What does this mean to you? Can you adapt to change?
What are you doing to keep ahead and well informed for the ever changing future?
Per Jim Harbaugh, “Stay on your toes, keep your guard up, stay paranoid and come out here
every day and do what you believe in, which is the preparation.” “Only the paranoid survive”
means to me that we need to always be prepared for every scenario. Any scenario can be positive
or negative, rain or shine, etc. I can adapt to change easily. In my work I am always asked to do
tasks last minute, or change my schedule, go into the office and what not. I feel adapting to
change is very important and if we can’t adapt we should seek help or assistance to make these
transitions easier on us. In order to keep ahead and well informed with the ever changing future,
I make sure that I read the news, especially the technology side. I make sure to keep learning,
take classes and certification classes that will help me build my resume and career .
Complete the process to see how much "free time" you actually have. Determine
something that you would like to do or improve on. How and when could you schedule it
into your day/week? Discuss
When assessing my day by day, it looks like I have about 3 hours of “free time.” I would really
like to improve on exercising and my time management. Laura is absolutely right about
overestimating my commitments each week. I really try to schedule the bare minimum in order
to spend and dedicate time to my son as well as homework. It seems that I don’t manage my time
well with school work because I end up doing my classwork late at night. Sometimes I prioritize
items that are in fact not that important. I feel my exercising I can schedule it during the day
during my lunch time. This will allow me extra time in the afternoon to dedicate a half hour to
me .
