i started the paper just add to it its on kurt cobain The first half of the semester provides students with the knowledge necessary to come to their own conclusions about drug offenses through knowledge of the psychoactive properties of drugs, theories of drug crime, and the connection between drugs and other crime. With this knowledge, students are tasked with researching one famous person convicted of some sort of drug-related crime (possession, sales, trafficking, or a non-drug crime that has been clearly linked to drug activity). This person may be known for their drug offenses (e.g., Pablo Escobar) or for some other reason (Robert Downey Jr.); the requirement that they be famous is in place solely so that it is easy for students to find information about their offense and their dealings with the criminal justice system. The famous person must have come in some sort of contact with the criminal justice system (arrest, prosecution, probation, jail, etc.) as a result of their crime. The subject may be from another country (and thus a different criminal justice system), so long as that country took some action to address their crime. If students are in doubt about whether a person qualifies for this paper, they should not hesitate to ask the professor. Students should research the crimes and criminal justice processing of their subject. If they find any relevant background information that may shed light on why that person was involved with drug crime, they should take note of that, too. The paper has three parts. In the first part, students should describe the crime(s) of their subject. In the second part, they should describe how the criminal justice system addressed these crimes. In the third part, based on what they have learned, student should present their opinion of this case. Do you agree with the way the criminal justice system handled the case? If so, why? What about their crime fits with the way the case was handled? If not, why not? What doesn’t fit, and why? What would you change if you had the power to change anything about this case? Back all of this up not only with your personal opinion, but also with what we have learned about drugs, reasons for drug offending, and the connection between drugs and other crime. The sections we cover after this essay will discuss how our criminal justice has handled drug crimes; this paper is designed to get you thinking about this process, to put you in the mindset of turning knowledge about drugs into criminal justice policy. 1-2 pages should be spent on descriptions of the crime(s); 1-2 pages should be spent on descriptions of how the crime(s) was addressed; and 2-3 pages should be spent on your thoughts about the appropriateness of response(s) to the case(s). Thus, the paper should be no less than 4 pages, but may be longer, all double-spaced, in size 12 Times New Roman font. Papers should follow proper APA format (https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/). All in-text citations should follow proper APA citation formatting (https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/02/). At the end of the paper, there should be a reference list following proper APA formatting (https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/05/). Please cite material from class (e.g., your textbook) as well as additional research material.
